The boom-and-bust cycle of the Imperial Valley is poised for a massive boom. Great for the people living there but I'm sure the creeps in Sacramento are salivating at the prospects of all that tax revenue.

The EPA and CA will block it.
The Salton Sea area is already a train wreck.

California leftists (including my aunt) constantly brag how under their leadership California has this massive Economy, greater than most countries in the world.

Iโ€™m sure it has nothing to do with its:

Oil
Precious metals
Other metals
Perfect climate
Huge size
Central Valley growing what 1/3 the nations vegetables?
Lumber
Tourism
Being the, by far, state with most ports to import/export business to Asia
Etc

"... enough [lithium] to produce 375 million batteries for [EVs]"

In other words, enough batteries for 375 cars.

The destruction of a lithium mine will make oil and gas development look like the Garden of Eden.

The imperial valley is actually desert. Only the water from the Co River makes it a viable area for farming. The salton stead is a dead zone.

Democrats are REAL GOOD at CHEATING PEOPLE AND STEALING STUFF!

Ergo, you can expect the Sacramento Democrats to quickly figure out how to CHEAT THE PEOPLE AND STEAL THEIR LITHIUM!

AND NOT PAY TAXES ON WHAT THEY STEAL!

This totally explains the need for more 3rd world slave laborers.

Since Liberalism is a Mental Disorder, perhaps ‘spreading the Lithium around’ will assist with reining in some of the democRAT insanity.

A trip to Calipatria is instructive. Go to the center of town. There is a flag pole. The flag is flown at sea level...180 ft above ground level.

Looking south, there is the Gulf of California. The land between Calipatria and sea level in the Gulf of California is just 4 feet above mean sea level.

The San Andreas Fault passes through the Imperial Valley where it ends at Bombay Beach and other faults continue to the Gulf of California.

Eventually, the flag flying in Calipatria will be soaked in salt water that has filled the Imperial Valley. Any investment in the area has the potential to fail overnight if the large enough earthquake opens a path to the Gulf of California.

Imperial County does not “straddle” the border. It’s entirely on the US side of the border.
