Mass shootings in US hit new record in 2023, highest since 2006

There have been more mass shootings with four or more deaths in 2023 than in any year since at least 2006, according to gun violence data.

There have been 38 mass killings this year, up from last year’s previous high of 36, The Washington Post’s gun violence database shows.

A pair of shootings in Dallas and Vancouver, Wash., on Sunday broke the record and pushed the number of deaths in such shootings to 197 — excluding the gunmen.

Mass killings have been on the rise in recent years, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 21 mass killings in 2020, a rate which increased to 31 in 2021 and 36 in 2022.

Well, that does it! Time to fire up the document shredder and feed the Bill of Rights into it!

(That's how it works, right?)

And what portion of these “mass shootings” took place in an allegedly “gun-free zone”, in venues where the actual right to possess and carry sidearms is highly restricted or forbidden?

My suggestions for “gun control”:

Begin about age twelve or so, with introducing the ENTIRE school age population to firearms, up close and with the intention of demystifying the “magic” power of guns. Expand this into the care, feeding, grooming and proper respect for the potential of the devices, and follow up with training in the selection of target, framing the target, and firing upon the target, all with the express purpose of doing this under controlled conditions. Once the familiarity with the weapons is established, then work on developing skills in accuracy and the correct procedures to prepare for the recoil, aiming, and firing, followed by whatever procedures are necessary to load the next round into the chamber. Repeat the aim, firing and reload until these are second nature, all the while sharpening up the accuracy.

This would have twofold effect - the guns just become another fact of life, like electricity and automobiles, a useful tool and with its own purposes. Also, it would be obvious quite quickly which of the learners, whether through carelessness, or those that harbor malicious thoughts, are the ones who should NEVER come into possession of a weapon, until after they have undergone a major attitude readjustment. Then the perpetually timid, who cannot be compelled to pick up a weapon under any circumstances, even after attempts to familiarize them, should still be given training in how to avoid, evade, shelter in place, or somehow distract the active shooter, so it may be possible to make a concerted effort to neutralize or otherwise disarm the shooter.

Upon graduation from high school, and with the certificate of training in their possession, the youth are then eligible to take ownership and possession of their personal firearm. None of this business about waiting until age 21, or 25, or whatever. Adulthood implies the capability for adult responsibilities.

And on the longer term, the military forces shall have a MUCH larger pool of potential recruits in the future, all with the basic knowledge of firearms, and a large civilian population that stands ready to resist any internal or external invasion - “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.”

Make it so, Number One.

This is what happens when you elect an idiot like Pedo Joe and the Government decides to engage in political lawfare against the American people as it embraces foreign buzzards coming to pick the bones of America.

Semi-auto rifles went on the market in 1903. Yes, 1903. Yet there were no mass murders except three. Howard Unruh in 1949 with a Luger pistol. Richard Speck with a knife, Charles Whitman with a bolt action hunting rifle.

Then the mental hospitals began to be closed down in the 1970s and all hell broke loose. In the 1980s mass murders took off like a rocket. And most of the murderers would have been in a mental hospital before they went on a rampage.

So the Democrats blamed...guns. Can’t have their precious mental cases locked up before the commit mass murders can they!

From the data I have seen, about 96%. Compare this to the fact that only about 0.0001% of privately owned firearms are used in these shootings, and one can see exactly where the problem lies.

I think it was also attributed to lawyers/politicians and privacy rights of those with mental illness. It's a double edged sword yet I believe an acceptable solution could be arrived at.

In all fairness, the extreme far-left defunded the police and left skeleton crews for police departments. That explains the “record shootings.” That and the far-left’s pimping “mass shootings” to get their firearms confiscation program kick started.

The Washington post is the official CIA house organ

So the CIA wants to disarm American citizens.

Gee, I wonder why.

When you think of the number of homicidal people walking the streets in this country. those numbers are fairly low.

Indirectly or just through laziness, that’s true.

But the Washington Compost is referred to as the CIA’s In-House Publication for a reason. Half the employees are on the government payroll. The other half are married to CIA officials of some kind.

Nothing is published in the Compost that doesn’t fit their agenda.
