You can tell that by reading the opinion, it’s dripping with contempt.
Yea that seems to be.. the defendant can’t talk publicly about or criticize witnesses.. (witness intimidation) but everything if else seems to have been thrown out… if I am reading this properly.
This seems to be a sensible ruling and I wonder if the govt will even appeal it given that SCOTUS would be even more likely to affirm the unanimous ruling of three liberal jurists at the second highest court in the land.
He can't say -- "It would be a really bad idea for Bill to show up and testify -- especially if he would say that he saw me with the stolen jewels."
Seems a sensible distinction.

The decision process for most judges today is: I want this, now I have to find some justification for it. If there isn’t any legal justification, I’ll just make up one.
Far too many judges are terminally stricken with a god complex.

This sounds like lawyer talk for...”let’s just have everybody do what seems right to them”.
Don’t talk about witnesses. Mock the judge and prosecutor all he wants along with the evidence.
