The Soviet way - when you are committing war crimes accuse your opponents and their allies of doing the same and take the focus off yourself. Just yesterday or the day before I read a story of Russians gunning down a group of surrendering Ukrainians.

When I read about war crimes, I think about Canada and how the Canadian Parliament honored a WWII Nazi. What the hell was that about?

Soviets were on the council, Soviet Union does not exist. There is no automatic means for Russia to have assumed that seat, and there is precedent for others countries that have broken up like Yugoslavia and the new countries created…..
But like any law or rule not enforced does it really exist?

Flooding of tunnels is not a war crime as long as the water used is not toxic and the people in the tunnels have the option to surrender.
Flooding the tunnels with a poison gas or other toxic substance would be a war crime. Water certainly is not.
If I’m not mistaken, the Japaneses used caves in the Pacific islands to hide in. The cave entrances were blown up thus sealing off escape and leaving the Japanese soldiers to die due to lack of air or starvation. This was never considered a war crime.
One of the clearest examples of the pot calling the kettle black, i.e. rank hypocrisy, that I have seen in a while.
