Wow! You’ve raised an interesting question I’ve never thought about. Is a war crime a war crime if it’s a special military operation, or a police action, or a terrorist attack. It seems like semantics, but whole legal cases and acquittals have rested on less.
In this particular case, though, I think it’s not a crime in any sense. Suppose the Israelis used tear gas to get a terrorist to leave a house so he could be arrested. It’s the terrorist’s decision to fight and die or be arrested. The government, universally, has the monopoly on force. Therefore it’s “the government’s” right to use whatever force is necessary so long as that force is not arbitrarily applied to the innocent. This is why Hamas hides among civilians.
The “crime” comes in when a government, governing body or organization, does something to someone for their own purposes and not to the advantage of that person. For example, they take your children and deport them to be raised as Russians instead of Ukrainian.

Nope. At least not according to all the “woke” Campus Activists, and a good chunk of so-called “Mainstream Media”.
It’s either dismissed as “Zionist Lies and Propaganda”, or justified as a Heroic David & Goliath battle, where the “Palestinian Freedom-Fighters” are “Punching-Up” at the “Genocidal Apartheid Zionist Occupiers” with whatever means they have at their disposal.
