In several states, child support and spousal support increase is retroactive all the way back to the previous filing date if it can be shown that the person lied about their income at the previous hearing.
I had one case where is happened and arrearages were automatically over $100k. They took his passport and threatened to take his driver’s license if he didn’t pay up.
