Conservatives unhappy with Speaker Johnson over defense bill passage with FISA reauthorization

House conservatives are unhappy with House Speaker Mike Johnson's handling of the defense bill passage, which included temporary Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act reauthorization.

Republicans and some Democrats have been calling for changes to FISA's Section 702, which deals with federal surveillance of U.S. citizens abroad.

House GOP leaders pulled two FISA reform bills from the House floor and the National Defense Authorization Act passed with a temporary FISA extension through April 19. More House Democrats voted in favor of the NDAA than Republicans. The NDAA passed in the Democratic-led Senate 87-13.

"I love our military. That’s why I voted for the NDAA passed this summer under Speaker McCarthy that included a 30% pay raise for junior members of the military. But the NDAA negotiated by Speaker Johnson, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell and Hakeem Jeffries removed that pay raise," said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.

"Not only that, it didn’t remove Ukraine funding and doubled it to $600 million, funded abortion vacations, and kept trans in our military. Worst of all, they shoved the FISA spy court into our defense bill. The NDAA should NEVER reauthorize the weaponization of our justice system that Joe Biden’s DOJ and the FBI are using to spy on American citizens," she added.

Other conservatives vented their frustrations with the NDAA process.

"More Dems just voted for the BAD NDAA deal than Republicans. I voted AGAINST it because the Senate stripped most of the things that made it a good bill in the summer, and they added the FISA extension without reforms," Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., the new chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, wrote on X.

WHEN is the next time they can vote on this topic???

2024 all of the House seats will be up for election. Also, potentially Biden and Trump, who have both signed FISA 702 into law, will be on the ballot.

100%!

The DOJ/FBI lied to the FISA judge to get a warrant. A person or persons did this.

The fact that in this age of constant lawsuits and indictments, they have taken no action on this nor even speak of it, is a huge reason why this Republic is failing.

These corrupt RINO’s are next to worthless on the majority of issues outside of a few on the House Freedom caucus. We need to start boosting the Libertarian Party and get more Libertarians in office before we lose any more of our freedoms.

So.... Matt Gaetz voted for it, as well? I’m so confused. It’s getting harder and harder to tell who are the good guys these days. And I am tired and FTFU with being fooled.

“There are no good guys.”

Yeah. I am starting to get that. Not quite at that “all hope is gone” yet... but it’s impending.

On the UAP front you may or may not know that key House Republicans gutted most of the provisions that would have protected UAP whistleblowers and punished government employees and contractors that hid legacy UFO programs.

They are so owned by the Deep State.

Supposedly Congress will try again with a separate bill but many claim that what is going on is “99 yard football” where it keeps looking like they are going to score but the running backs keep fumbling the ball when they get near the goal line.

McCarthy was a slight improvement over Ryan. Johnson is a definite improvement over McCarthy. As far as Johson’s record so far of caving, I’m going to give him a couple more months before judging him too harshly. Supposedly, he has told the caucus that, come January, he will pursue a more aggressive strategy towards the Democrats.

I don’t pretend to know all the nuance of House rules and current budget legislation, but it’s at least conceivable to me that he may have needed to kick the can down the road a few months on a few bills in order to properly position himself to be able to negotiate from a position of strength.

I know that Rep. Turner (Chair. House Intel) and Rep. Rogers (Chair. Armed Services) gutted the bill, but I'm not sure what Johnson's role was.

I heard that Turner and Rogers solicited and got Johnson and Mitch McConnell to help, but I haven't heard the backstory.

What have you heard?

As an aside, the gutting of the bill/amendment was a clear admission that they've got something re: UFO/UAPs to hide...or they wouldn't have killed the bill.

DOD, CIA, Lockheed et al aren't too smart...but they mean business.

If they are willing to kill people to shut them up, they aren't going to disclose.

I have not heard any more detail than you provided—sounds like you are up to speed.

Richard Dolan has been a good source for this stuff—as you know.

Michael Salla is probably a bit outside your comfort zone, but his comments are here in his weekly update:

https://podbay.fm/p/exopolitics-today-with-dr-michael-salla/e/1702724400

I thought his most interesting/provocative comment was that some Republicans who had been briefed on the details of alien contact/communications were horrified at the alien claims on human origins that contradicted standard religious doctrine—and did not want that stuff released to the public.

Reading between the lines I think the concerns of some Republican Congress folks was that their constituents might think that they were delivering the bad news—and would take it out on them. “You are possessed by demons.”

Politicians will always look out for themselves first.
