In 2023 one is either rich, asleep or depressed.

America has been invaded by 14.6 million foreigners of dubious intent over the last 3 years. Home and car prices should be the least of any lawful American citizens worries.

There's a lot of wacky math going on there.

In the height of depression in the 1930s average income was $3,900 and today it is $56,000. The cost of a home was $3900 (3x income) in 1930 today average home costs $426,000 (8x income). The cost of a car was $600 (45% of income) today an average car costs 48,000 (85% of income).

If average income was $3900, and the average home cost $3900, that 1x income, not 3x income. If a car cost $600, that's 15% of income, not 45%.

An average 1930 home is not comparable to a home today. Square foot, number of bathrooms and fixtures, cabinets, closets space, electrical, hvac, insulation, double or triple pane windows, lighting, siding, building codes all are not equal.

I think the government has managed to kill the American Dream, and I don’t think it’s coming back. I’m glad I’m not young. I think it’s rough for the coming generation, and I definitely don’t think this is a “tighten your belt for a couple years, pretty soon the good times will be back and everyone will be happy” situation. We killed the golden goose.

You nailed it in your first sentence.
And you can apply that statement to everything that is wrong today.
Businesses abandoning America?
High cost of, say, cars?
Homes?
Food?

Get the government off the backs of American businesses and the American people, and watch what happens!!!!

Correct but you have to pay the cost to own a home. Toyota produced a stripped down truck for $13,000 but it won’t be sold in the US.

This nation offers more economic opportunity than any nation ever.

I dunno what the doomsday for clicks crowd will do with the peace and prosperityupon Trump’s return. The author of this piece can’t do basic math, bol to him.

The OP should have written that the 1930s average income was $1300. Then everything works out consistently. Typos happen.

The average income of the American family dropped by 40 percent from 1929 to 1932. Income fell from $2,300 to $1,500 per year.

During the 1930s, manufacturing employees earned about $17 per week. Doctors earned $61 per week.

The stock market didn’t return to pre-depression levels until 1954.

One big difference between 1933 and 1923 is that the average American worker today is carrying an enormous tax burden to support people who aren’t even expected to have minimal gainful employment.

That is hardly a feature of a place that offers “more economic opportunity than any nation ever.”

Bingo...

A country that refuses to secure it’s own sovereign legitimate borders will itself eventually become illegitimate. We’re getting real close.

“The average household income was $106,270.90 in 2023. It was $102,310.10 in 2022 (not adjusted for inflation).”

“To be in the top 1% in 2023, a household needed to earn $591,550. $570,003 was the non-inflation-adjusted threshold in 2022.”

Small correction.
