Murders and shootings dropped in New York City in 2023 — but the number of assaults continue a troubling upward trend, according to a year-end review of NYPD data.
Overall crime in the five boroughs squeaked through the year on a high note — down .5% through Dec. 24 when compared to the same period last year, NYPD data show.
Murders declined 11%, with 380 so far this year compared to 429 in 2022.
Shootings plunged 24%, with 967 so far this year vs. 1,277 in the same span last year.

I’m guessing those stats are crap.
So we don’t need all that Nazi Gun Confiscation crap afterall. The Gubmint needs to start chopping off people’s hands.
NYPD’s “Murder & Shootings stats” are probably *manipulated* to show a less-than-last-year result, I’d bet $5...
Who in their right mind would trust any number or statistic that any Democrat run city would publicize or present.
They must be losing their touch.

Maybe. But maybe a lot of the murders are gang related and perhaps they have lowered the number of shooters through their neighborhood wars. About 15 years ago a friend of mine knew a kid (who he hired) in Pueblo, CO who had been in a Mexican gang. Kid said you either joined or they would threaten you and your family in that neighborhood. Kid joined as a teenager but refused to do violent crimes and later quit. He told my friend the gang left a body bag on his porch. A week later he was shot dead.
If you don’t report the crime, it never happened. Big cities fudge their numbers like Biden’s on the economy. No one believes that crap but the media.
Most violent crimes are never reported to the police. (The exception is murders, because it is hard to hide the bodies.)

They can do all kinds of magic with numbers with their huge influx of illegal alien walkers to add to their counts.

So that’s supposed to be good news? 380 and friends and families probably don’t think so. A civilized city would be zero.
In 2023, there have been 380 murders in New York City.
In 1990, there were 2262 murders in New York City.

There are 79 cities in the United States with higher murder rates than New York City.
That doesn’t speak too highly of the country.
They haven’t found the bodies yet check the rivers.
Does anyone believe it?
