BLAIR (WQOW) - A Blair man shot another man who was reportedly breaking into the residence early Monday morning.
According to a press release from the Blair Police Department, dispatch received a call at 1:16 a.m. on Jan. 1 from a resident on the 900 block of Taft Street. The caller said a man had broken into her home.
The caller's husband confronted the suspect and shot him.
When police arrived on scene they found the door kicked in and the suspect laying on the floor in the garage.
The suspect was transported by ambulance to Gundersen Tri County Hospital in Whitehall, officials said, before being moved to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.
According to the press release, during the investigation it was discovered the same suspect had first broken into another residence where no one was home.
The Blair Police Department said there is no related threat to the public. Names of the victims and the suspect have not been released at this time. The incident is still under investigation.

Have the arrested the homeowner yet?...............
Fixed it.
Give them time.
No, and it is highly unlikely, given this is a small town in rural Wisconsin.
Could be much different if it happened in Milwaukee.
I was once told by a LEO that if you shot someone trying to break into your house, they had better be on the inside of the door. I don't know if this would count.................
The deceased perp will continue to vote Democrat for a hundred years.
Hope the victims weren’t MAGA for their sake.
If the man was reportedly breaking in then to be accurate he was reportedly shot by the homeowner
One thing I heard that sounded like good advice was to *never* move the body. That will automatically get you arrested and probably set you up for a murder charge.
Yes, but you could claim that you were rendering medical assistance, by dragging him into the house!..............😜
Just say the burglar startled him and the gun went off , I.e. Arec Ballwun defense.
“Just say the burglar startled him and the gun went off , I.e. Arec Ballwun defense.”
Nothing worse than a jumpy gun.
The perp is still alive, so the whole story will come out. Thank goodness, the homeowners are OK!
Silly me. I read Blair House and thought it was the Presidential guest house.

That about seals the deal on 'reportedly'. Unless he was shot outside the house and dragged into the house. Or was allowed in and then shot. Neither of which would seem likely.
I imagine you are a whole lot safer legally if the perp is inside the house. Much easier to demonstrate an immediate threat to you life.
