Ron DeSantis has further alienated the America First conservatives he hoped to win over from Donald Trump’s base by disparaging January 6th protestors, denying they were motivated by patriotism.
Speaking at a CNN town hall, the Florida Governor was asked if “the January 6th insurrections display[ed] patriotism, as some of them claim they did” by an audience member.
It was the most patriotic thing I have witnessed in my lifetime.
100’s of thousands of protestors who knew without a doubt that drop boxes were used illegally against state law in the battle ground states went to Washington to try to delay the certification of a stolen election. What could be more patriotic.
I am sorry, but I don’t care what the courts said “after” the fact! the FACT is ID’s were NOT checked as state laws required! mailed in ballots were NOT filled out correctly according to state laws, and drop boxes were used which were also against state laws. And NO covid is no excuse for the laws to be ignored that were on the books.
Courts saying AFTER the election that it was ok to break all the laws because “covid” is the true crime.
Trump is the only R candidate that knows how to read a room.
Notice who he has stumping for him: Kari Lake to talk about stolen elections, Matt Whittaker to talk about Jan 6 Fedsurrection, MTG to talk about Woke corporations, defending our Southern border vs. Ukraine’s border, and Kirsti Noem to talk about the economy and putting America First.
All issues Republican voters are angry about and Trump is firing on all cylinders.
Meanwhile, DeSantis and the others think they will get traction by repeating Democrat talking points about Trump and MAGA being a threat to our Democracy, and the importance of doubling down on forever wars. It’s just amazing how tone deaf they are.
The doors were opened for them - they did nothing stupid or unpatriotic by entering through the doors.
The few that broke windows and who were not feds (if any) were wrong to do so - but that was nothing compared to the BLM rioters who burned buildings and faced no consequences.
The vast majority of those who entered that public building went through open doors, many even escorted by capital police. They filed through peacefully taking pictures.
Yup - and so is everyone who’s ready to vote DeSantis into the Oval Office.

I used to really like the guy. Now I put him in the same low/mediocre category as Bitchy Haley or Dunkin' Donuts Chrispie.

Yes many of them were. The doors were opened and they were invited in. You can’t tell me those old ladies carrying flags were anything but patriotic. They were absolutely awed by walking through there. They had no idea it was a trap.
