Congressional leaders have reached a topline spending deal to fund the federal government for the rest of 2024.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced the deal reached with the Senate and the White House in a “Dear Colleague” letter to members on Sunday.
“The topline constitutes $1.590 trillion for FY24 – the statutory levels of the Fiscal Responsibility Act. That includes $886 billion for defense and $704 billion for nondefense,” Johnson said in the letter.

And what sellouts did he just agree to?
Moving forward.
Reprioritizing.
Fighting for important stuff.
As long as we're getting these sorts of real, solid achievements, I'm satisfied.
Use the power that you have, to save the Republic, Mikey.
Just, do it!
If it’s not a closed border and a balanced budget then it’s not good enough.
It’s the one job they have. Only four months late. Get to work on 2025 budget to maybe pass by September 30th. One job!!!!
“””The topline constitutes $1.590 trillion for FY24”””
I need more meat to go with this bone.
Does this mean that spending from Jan 2024 until Sept 30, 2024 is limited to $1.590 trillion?????
Where’s the meat?
He's the same as the old speaker.
Spend. Spend. Spend. Who cares that the USA is $34 trillion in the hole? Apparently not our elected representatives.
Appease and retreat. Its the only thing the GOP ever does.
I guess the FBI has video tapes of Johnson doing something he does not want to be made public.
Mike, where is the budget you said we’d get?
America is bankrupt and effectively terminal, dead nation walking. Only divine intervention can save it.
As long as the military get paid and VA funded as far as I’m concerned, shut it down. Besides it really doesn’t shut down all that much, just the non-essential things, designed to irritate people, like national parks, passport processing, IRS call lines and stuff like that.
Besides it is good to show the people in the USA just how much silly crap we support.
WHAT ABOUT THE BORDER????
“...That includes $886 billion for defense and $704 billion for nondefense,” Johnson said in the letter....”
And how much servicing the $34 Trillion debt???
.
The Republicans are there to act as opposition. They’re not even close to Opposition.
Flopping fish gotta flop……..
WWG1WGA ! With or without priciples……
Another useless coward.
In other words business as usual. Anyone hoping Mike Johnson was going to be any different than his predecessors are going to be disappointed.
