The House Freedom Caucus said it's a 'total failure' Republican hardliners in the House of Representatives are pushing back against the bipartisan deal struck on Sunday aimed at avoiding a government shutdown.
The conservative House Freedom Caucus led the revolt against Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s agreement on Sunday evening, recirculating a late December memo that said any funding topline higher than $1.59 trillion would be "totally unacceptable."
"It’s even worse than we thought," the group posted on X. "Don’t believe the spin. Once you break through typical Washington math, the true total programmatic spending level is $1.658 trillion — not $1.59 trillion."

Yup! And, NEVER EVER make any deal with schmuck schumer! EVER!
Johnson was supposedly a real conservative, as opposed to the RINO Mccarthy.
Close the government.
Yup! I’m fed up with ALL these freaking traitors!! The R is the same as the D in the sense of the same end game, different means. Both are destroying this country and our way of life.
Just noise. It will pass with or without them. Republican opposition is a myth.

Renegotiate and do not sign this one.
Johnson has no leverage. The GOP has something like a two-seat majority in the House. Even if 90% of the Republican House member vote against a spending bill, there are more than enough Democrats to drive the agenda.
No doubt, it’s a pickle.
its a blog.
why not post the whole thing right here?
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
People were impressed with his being a Christian and figured he would do the right thing.
The swamp is a foul place and corrupts decent people.
It is true and more GOP keep giving up their seats.
Another RAT KY jelly “deal” for the Republicans.
It’s going to pass. Probably overwhelmingly. All democrats will say yes in the house the they will find 5 or so republicans to say yes. The senate easily passes it. Biden signs it. Done.
How soon before Johnson is run off?
