Thank you for saying that. Too much nonsense conspiracy crap getting posted and its hardly ever worth wasting breath or bandwidth talking sense to them.

I sympathize with your comment about just sinking the boat, but without boarding and proof of the contraband, we would just be accused of war crimes and piracy.

Prayers for our fallen heroes and families.

If there’s a story from our government, it is almost impossible to know if it is 100% true or zero percent true.

Even when we see the truth in events like Covid or election theft, they lie to our faces and tell us to doubt what we saw.

In the end, those in our government have an agenda and they will tell us what they believe will best advance that agenda.

I think part of the plan is just perpetual inundation with truth, lies, and partials.
One can come to any conclusion, so the conclusion is meaningless.

Sickening to see the continued abuse of spec ops men.

Its my opinion the US Military is a bureaucratic, politicized mess. It has a fantastic elite of spec ops troops, with incomparable intelligence, surveillance and recon. They've gained great experience, playing world-cop and riding herd against small nations. THIS is the face of the US military.

But Russia/Ukraine has showed us - we do not lead in basic stuff like 155mm shells or artillery.

And it all comes at a huge cost. Much of the US military is a super-expensive, bloated, politicized government bureaucracy, with all the problems you get from any govt bureaucracy.

“... The IRGC’s overall presence inside Yemen is overseen by Gen. Abdul Reza Shahlai, a Tehran-based commander whom the Trump administration attempted to assassinate in a 2020 drone strike inside Yemen, U.S. and Mideast officials said. American intelligence believes Shahlai is deeply involved in Tehran’s overseas terrorist operations through his role as the Qods Force’s deputy commander.

This includes a role in overseeing an unsuccessful 2011 Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s then-ambassador to the U.S., Adel al-Jubeir, at a Washington, D.C. restaurant. Shahlai, who’s been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department, also helped oversee IRGC attacks against U.S. military personnel in Iraq over the past two decades. The Department of Justice offered $15 million in 2019 for information related to the commander’s operations and networks.....”

I understand what you are saying. But the Navy claims this dhow has a long history of smuggling. The would was better when a destroyer just enforced things openly.
We abuse our spec ops by using them for missions where conventional old fashioned approaches were better. And we do it for immoral reasons, just so our politicians don’t look bad in front of their Davos buddies.

What I think they miss is that when it’s a destroyer popping them with 5 inchers, the lesson gets out quickly and that becomes the way it is.

Today we could send a missile right down the throat of the cave and take out the guns of Navarone, but I am convinced we would still try to scale cliffs and send in some kind of commandos.

Spec ops should be respected, and not merely used as a substitute for conventional forces. That flying clown car of Seals where we lost 30 Spec Ops guys is another example. They were the react force because ROE was that you could not shoot at buildings, and you could not use artillery, and the AC-130 overhead was denied permission to fire despite their pleading.
Despite our ability to project massive power, the geniuses leading our effort decided a flying clown car packed with a platoon of Seals in lieu of normal infantry was the answer.

It’s murderous abuse. It’s just disrespectful to them the way they are used today by our cowardly leaders.

And yes, Prayers for those men. And please God, let them be treading water longer than we thought they could.

When first reading about this story I kept asking myself, what ship/boat were they boarding? This was never mentioned and apparently still isn’t officially acknowledged. Curious.

And assuming it wasn’t a ‘drone dhow’ (if such a thing exists) it was manned. Manned by whom? And would they be the types of men who might resist being boarded? If weapons were seized, then wouldn’t the crew, if still alive, also be in our hands?

I realize it is hard to believe /s but our government is not being straight with us.

And I see yours. That is exactly what would happen. It would be “America murders man trying to catch a carp to feed his 11 children”.

Sucks.

It was a dhow. It had at least 12 crewmen, who were detained. The dhow was then sunk.

It is in the short run but then you don’t get to interrogate the crew and find out where they picked up the cargo and from whom.

Thanks. Saw that. The interdiction took place at 8 pm local time, so it was dark. Rough weather.

For a while there during the Libyan thing, Iran was smuggling weapons via Eritrea, as I recall, and some of them ended up in Gaza.

Would be nice to know where the dhow picked up the missile parts.

That’s true of all governments.
In fact, that is true of people in general.
