Donald Trump Jr. said Thursday on Newsmax TV’s “Wake Up America” that former Fox News host Tucker Carlson was “certainly” a contender to be picked as his father’s vice presidential running mate.
Anchor Rob Finnerty asked, “So Trump has already said that he’s picked his VP, but he can’t tell us. Back in 2016 de didn’t pick somebody that was running for president. He chose Mike Pence, who at the time was not a candidate for president. Could you see your father running with Ron DeSantis?”
Trump said, “You know, I would do whatever I could to make sure it wasn’t Nikki Haley. But you know, but like a Ron DeSantis, could I see? You’re never gonna rule out someone that is a leading contender. It doesn’t mean that’s who you go with. I could see other people that would be great. I’d love to see you know a J. D. Vance. I’d love to see a Tucker Carlson.”

They need to be credible whoever it is. Unfortunately that might limit the ticket to experienced politicians. I do not want DeSantis.

Trump is using the media, his kids, and anything else to run these ideas up the proverbial flagpole.

None of these statements mean a thing. He isn’t going to say who it is any time soon. Meanwhile, he is not going to rule anyone out.
The pundits are going to keep putting forth hypotheticals, and he and his surrogates will continue to say “never say never”.
It’s a great publicity stunt to say you have already picked a running mate but you’re not saying who it is. I doubt that’s true.
Even if it’s true, he can always change his mind so it means nothing.
Trump is a populist, beholden to no one except his MAGA base - he will pick someone his MAGA base approves of.
So all this guessing is basically one big trial balloon. He’s going to listen to what we have to say in the coming months and choose accordingly. I would not be at all surprised if he uses his rallies to poll the crowd on VP options. He’s done that kind of thing before.
Got it. My post still stands. I would love Vivek as VP. He could be an assassination deterrent. I hate even thinking about that, but it is a consideration. However, Vivek is not going to be the pick. Press Secretary is below his pay grade. Stephen Miller would be a great PS.
