Liberation Theology folks came from Nicaragua to where I lived during the Regan re-election era.
I actually met Contra Suporters who were from Costa Rica but supporting Contras in Nicaragua. The opposition (to the Contras) were Maryknoll nuns They were collecting money for the poor in Nicaragua but also spewing the Liberation Theology poison. Close friend of mine was in one of their meetings, she was Catholic. She was not impressed but had already given them a check when she discovered what they were.
