Alec Baldwin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter over the fatal shooting on the set of “Rust” for a second time.

The actor has been indicted by a grand jury in New Mexico over the death of Halyna Hutchins, who was struck with a live bullet which had been loaded into a prop gun for a scene. “The above named defendant did cause the death of Halyna Hutchins by an act committed with the total disregard of indifference for the safety of others,” the indictment obtained by The Post read.

**** you, that’s my name. You see this watch?…

Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you’re fired.

My dad (rip) and i repeatedly saw this movie and Dr Strangelove together. Good times, fond memories.

I agree. I think people here just hate him that much.
To be fair, he’s a grade A a hole.

“Never let the muzzle point at anything you are not willing to destroy.”

My understanding is, even in the movies they do not aim at people directly and fire, they use camera angle and editing to make it look like they did

The event happened over 2 years ago. There’s hardly any debate over his involvement or the facts of the case. Yet he’s only being charged (again) now.

Regardless of what you think of Baldwin - American justice is slow, plodding, corrupt, bureaucratic and political.

Yes, it makes me cringe having to defend him. If it was me or you they might have a case because we own and shoot guns so we should have the knowledge to always check the gun yourself and never point it at someone but as far as I know he’s not a gun guy.

I think his dad was actually a rifle range instructor.

A charge of negligent homicide would’ve been more appropriate

Alec’s father had been shot on the rifle range as a Marine shooting instructor.

Here is an excerpt from Baldwin’s book on him, the Baldwin boys knew guns, so Alec chose what he wanted to do or not do in regard to safety.

” He coached football at the school. Led a cub scout troop. Coached Little League. And was coach of the Massapequa High School rifle team, which went to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association state riflery championship twice during his career. That honor was nearly always the reserve of upstate, and therefore more rural, schools. For a “downstate” school to win was considered impossible. My father’s team won both times.

Years later, doctors informed me that the inhalation of lead dust from working in an unventilated rifle range may have contributed significantly to his death. On Parris Island in 1945, a bullet would not kill him. But bullets eventually did, at the age of 55, from lymph cancer that spread through his body.”

See if you can find the video of him repeatedly practicing his cross draw seconds before he shot her and watch how he thrusts the revolver forward in his hand at the end of the drawing motion. That’s how the trigger got pulled without him “pulling” it. Negligence.

Rule #1
Never let the muzzle point at anything you are not willing to destroy.

Rule #2: It is insane to think that an actor pointing a gun which he believed to be loaded with blanks is guilty of a crime bc some idiot stage manager did not properly check it. No fan of Alec Baldwin, but this charge is BS.

Didn’t know that but I wonder what experience he has? If I was on a movie set Or anywhere and they handed me a revolver and said it was loaded with blanks I’d pull one out and look at it. Or just walk outside and blow one off in the ground. But I don’t think its fair to have that expectation for an actor with the exception of Keanu. 😆

No one has claimed there is new evidence, so I do think that when they essentially dropped the charges way back then, which I thought was proper, then that should have been the end of it.

See post 41, the movie producer Baldwin had no reason to point at her, or to pull the trigger, they were not even filming the actual scene.

Many in the industry point out a lot of things Balwin got wrong in that shooting including not inspecting the gun in that rehearsal, not pointing it at the floor and pulling the trigger, pointing the gun at a human when the industry says use an angle (the camera compensates), or at least use a protective screen for the camera and person because of blanks and their bits, or an even a bullet.

George Clooney
“George Clooney has ripped Alec Baldwin’s deadly shooting of the “Rust” cinematographer as “infuriating” and “insane” — insisting the star and his crew appeared to ignore decades-old safety rules used on every other set.

“The “Ocean’s Eleven” star said that despite having “been on sets for 40 years,” he has never heard of some of the apparent safety measures Baldwin’s Western had used on the deadly set.

“First of all, I’ve never heard the term ‘cold gun,’” he said of the doomed safe word that Baldwin believed meant the Colt .45 he fired would not have live bullets.

Clooney, 60, also insisted that even after getting the all clear, every actor then takes additional steps to personally ensure the weapon is not loaded before they actually fire on set.
“Every single time I’m handed a gun on a set — every time — they hand me a gun, I look at it, I open it, I show it to the person I’m pointing it to, we show it to the crew,” he told Maron.

“Everyone does it. Everybody knows,” he said.

That should be see post 31, Balwin is extremely knowledgeable about guns.

In his actor’s marketing bio he used to list gun handling experience as part of the talent that he brings with his acting.
