Adams asks council members to take police ride-alongs as he rails against bill that ‘could make the city less safe’

Mayor Eric Adams on Sunday continued to campaign against the controversial NYPD bill that will require officers to document even the most minor interactions — inviting members of the City Council to take ride-alongs with cops as they patrol the Big Apple.

“With a bill pending that could make the city less safe, city councilmembers deserve to see firsthand how our NYPD officers are keeping the public safe and building relationships in our communities — and they deserve to understand how this bill would force those officers to spend more time filling out paperwork instead of protecting New Yorkers and keeping our streets safe,” Adams said in a statement.

“Council members could care less”

I think the public could care less. Did you see the angry black woman who ran over a cop on purpose, and admitted it. Give the people what they want, good and hard.

I was fortunate to live in Manhattan during the golden age of safety - the late 1990s / early 2000s. You could walk almost anywhere alone late at night and not be afraid. And it was because the police did a truly exceptional job of keeping the city safe. They were the best police force in the country -perhaps the world - at that time. Stuff like this is why New York no longer is safe.

That’s true, sadly.

hardly!

I never lived in NY, but had a close friend whose mom grew up on the upper east side. So lived in that era vicariously through her. You should see the photos of her as a young woman, riding the subway to her work on Wall Street as a legal secretary, pillbox hat, professional dress, everyone on the subway had a suit on. In the 1940s and 1950s, NYC was truly the height of American civilization.

Guiliani helped to briefly revive it, but leftists, led by Obama, turned it to sh**. Its not coming back.

Ahh, but they are riding along with coppers who were attacked by these same councilCritters and then defunded. So, let ‘em get up front and personal with criminals.

Free range councilCritters — let’s see how many minutes they stay alive.

If every New Yorker had a unique bar code on their forehead the cops would only have to scan it in order to document their interaction.

My dad was NYPD for 23 years.

I have two nephews who are presently NYPD- unbeknownst to the NYPD they will be handing in their resignation shortly as they were accepted into PD’s closer to home. Closer to home, much safer and a lot less BS.

Everyone is happy as the NYPD continues to lose even more good cops.

My last active duty on a USN ship came about during the World Fair in late September 1964.

It turned out that was the safest docking and on shore leave/tours we had in 2 years.

The Cuban missile crisis and the Castros and Che did their best to prevent any + liberty cruise/dockings throughout the Caribbean and other waters.

The citizens of NY City treated us like we were heros. Most places would not let us pay and treated us like we were their sons.

A week later I joined my Navy Reserve unit in the DC area for 3 years until my active duty discharge.

We were told not to wear our uniforms to and from our reserve meetings, as we might be targets of the Anti War Thugs.

Also, we didn’t wear our uniforms during our 2 weeks at Bar Harbor and No Such Agency in the DC area..

Most council members are out of the ghetto and happy they are, they dont have to worry about the life or the life of their family, they have moved on up

Until there are no cops.

Just like that lady in Minneapolis(?) that got her ass whipped and car jacked.

There are so many vacancies for police jobs around the country, many of them pay really good. Pretty soon NYPD will be hiring DACA recipients like they are in LA. Folks who legally can’t own a gun but they get one for work.

While Giuliani was the reason for that, his ego and clashing personalities between him and Bratton caused a roller coaster ride. That and massive money from Disney and other companies to clean up Times Square.

He and Bratton let the cops be cops. They did a phenomenal job.

“Council members could care less” should be “Council members could NOT care less,” because their care is nonexistent.

the “Stuff like this” you refer to was/is made possible by marxist teachers unions and marxist school boards essentially doing away with history class in schools.

These morons that vote for NYC Council Members probably never had a History Class and specifically have no idea of how disastrous socialism and communism ALWAYS is.
