Massie says he’s not afraid of backlash for supporting DeSantis: ‘I’ve got the Trump antibodies’

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said in a Sunday interview he’s not afraid of facing backlash from former President Trump for backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) campaign against the former president.

“I’ve got the Trump antibodies,” Massie, a surrogate for DeSantis’s campaign, told “Fox News Sunday” host Shannon Bream when she asked whether he’s worried about the “price” he “might pay” for backing DeSantis over Trump.

Massie pointed to his opposition to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed into law under Trump on March 27, 2020, to aid in the pandemic recovery early on. Massie said he was attacked by Trump at the time and, therefore, is less afraid now.

“He came at me for opposing the CARES Act. I was the only congressman who did. I said it was going to cause inflation, that it would cause shortages. And oh, by the way, it funded the mail-in ballots and spent $2 trillion,” Massie said. “Contrast that with Ron DeSantis. He called me up while everybody was hating on me, including that president, and said, ‘I’m going to open our economy and make sure our kids go to school.’”

“Now, Trump came at me and I won my reelection, so I’m not worried about it, but I think there are — a lot of those endorsements aren’t wholehearted endorsements,” Massie said, referring to the recent endorsements Trump has gotten from Republican politicians spanning the ideological spectrum.

Massie said he thinks other members are endorsing Trump out of fear of retribution if Trump wins.

Yes, Massie was correct about the CARES act and Trump was very mistaken. With his signature on that law Trump engineered his own defeat by fraudulent mail ballots.

It would be nice to hear Trump admit any mistake he made while in office, or else we can assume he will make similar mistakes in the future.

Trump would make a fine President again and I will be happy to vote for him in November if I have the opportunity.

All the Republican contenders were and are better than the Democratic contenders.

Even the RINOs in Congress are better than the Democrats that would otherwise be in their places.

Notice Massie doesn’t go on National TV and attack Hunter and Joe.

There’s a good reason he keeps saving Joe.

Only the first four words are needed.

I do not trust Trump or Desantis because neither has called for the USA to officially exit the Refugee Convention, which is the legal foundation for the current massive invasion of our country.

“DeSantis is supporting Trump...”

DeSantis officially suspended his campaign. DeSantis reserves the right to get back in the races if Jack Smith and 12 jurors take Trump out of contention, which is possible because the US legal system is deeply flawed.

Yes and it’s very frustrating. No one will admit failure And they will do it again because they got away with it that time.

Talib should be allowed to bring further disgrace to herself and the Democratic Party.

The Republicans need more seats in the House of Representatives.

I prefer Trump style MAGA more than any extreme conservative. Only because extreme conservatives have extremely poor record of legislative achievements. Trump accomplished more for conservative issues in 4 years than all others since WW-II.

As long as the federal debt exists, the best way to handle it is by having corporate tax rates grow with it by say 1% per trillion.

In addition, by constitutional amendment, all income tax paid by people making more than federal bureaucrats do should be used to pay federal debt costs as long as federal debt exists.

The power of Democrats to buy votes by promising to tax high income people should be eliminated by that constitutional amendment.

Income taxation of middle income people (those making within the range of full-time federal employees) should be capped at no more than present rates.

McConnell limited the last Trump Covid handouts to $600.

Trump said it should have been $2000. Warnock in Georgia campaigned on the $2000 issue and made the Senate Democratic-controlled.

I don’t think she had any kind of sex with Trump. In her best year she was barely mediocre looking. Trump has exquisitely beautiful women throwing themselves at him he wouldn’t look twice at her.

I am glad Trump was not stingy with people suffering from covid lockdowns and sickness from the China virus. I am a fiscal conservative, but do not want poorer Americans to bear the brunt. Start by dismantling the yuge FEDERAL bureaucracy. I remember on a business visit to DC, when lunch time arrived, the streets and restaurants were overflowing with federal workers coming out of their office buildings. One has to see first hand how big the DC bureaucracy really is.

And what do the bureaucrats do for the hard working ordinary Americans? Throw in more regulations to kill small businesses, execute more audits of small fry (the rich have smarter tax lawyers than IRS). Can someone name 2 useful items they bought created by the Bureaucracy? I hope Trump creates a Bureaucracy evaluation Czar. Vivek would be good in that job.

I’m writing him in if he isn’t. Trump only needs my vote on Election Day anyway, although I’m not certain it will matter with the DNC ready, willing and able to manipulate the election again.
