Michael Mann took the stand for the third day at the trial of his own making to start Week 3. Mark's cross-examination continued in full force today. By the end of the day, Mann's lawyers were clearly flustered as illustrated by their attempts to rebut Mann's own testimony (in vain).
C.S. Lewis (yes, that C.S. Lewis) once said, "Hell begins with a grumbling mood, always complaining, always blaming others." We witnessed a lot of blame in Room 132 of the DC Superior Court today, so hell must be near.
As Mark detailed in exhibit after exhibit, Mann, despite his protestations to the contrary of double-checking (nigh, triple checking) his work and always ensuring that he has facts right each and every time, had to resort time and again to the common refrain, "it was an honest mistake."
What mistakes you ask?
Well, let's start with Mann's own deposition — the deposition that was signed under penalty of perjury. Mann failed to disclose all persons who he believed had "communicated false statements of fact about you or your work that caused damage to your reputation, as well as the statements."

It isn’t just Michael “Piltdown” Mann who is on trial. It’s also the entire Global Warming/Climate Change hoaxsters and Puppet Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency.
The fraud is being laid out for all the world to see. These climate “scientist” should all have there credentials revoked, their college degrees confiscated, their licenses annulled.
Just like what that dolt Heidi Cullen demanded from Climate sceptics.
Thank you, the Mark Steyn opening statement, while very long it is great reading and has put Mann into a box from which he cannot escape.
The whole climate change hoax is on trial here, which is why no one will ever see or hear about this trial on the msm or social media.
Mann has always been a bully and a fraud and the entire crew of global warming/cooling/changing freaks have always used every communist propaganda trick to forward it.
I thank God that Mark Steyn {and I }have lived long enough to see this trial through to the end as I have donated to his cause down through the years and have been frustrated at the bullshit way that the DC courts have sided with Mann.
There is no legal way that Steyn can lose, but...
Opening statement, ouch!
This will not be the first defamation case Mann will have lost. He tried to sue Canadian climate scientist Timothy Ball who quipped “Mann belongs in the State Pen not Penn State”. Ball based his defense upon Mann’s faulty statistical methodology and Mann refused to submit his math to the courts when ordered to. After seven years the Canadian courts dismissed the case and ordered Mann to pay Ball’s legal fees.
They need to have their grants taken away, all of them. It's funding of these grants thru special pro-climate change interests that fund these looney birds.

As best as I can tell, ‘venue shopping’ - the impression I got from one source I read is the nature of the case is such that it can be associated with a wide variety of jurisdictions, so if you’re a vindictive leftie sh!thead waging law-fare on somebody who used to guest host for Rush, you do it in DC.

Yet as Mark's site has mentioned Mann NEVER paid Ball's fees. Ball died leaving his widow holding the legal fee tab. So I hope Mark can actually get his legal costs out of Mann's hide. Mann has already testified he's personally not had to spend a cent yet.
There were no ‘honest mistakes.’ He, Phil Jones at EA CRU and James Hansen of NASA and several other at EA CRC colluded regularly to suppress alternate climate views, stop peer reviews and otherwise engineer results that showed their ‘theses’. ALL of them had government contracts and grants from multiple sources that needed to show the climate crisis.
Spent more time on debunking Wikileaks’ email revelations than they did actual relevant climate work, IMO.
And for what it's worth, Mann claiming to be a Nobel recipient all these years when he was not, should throw him in jail.
I'm a scientist (now retired) and have spent my entire career trying to live up to and do what a "good scientist" should. People like Mann and his ilk make me want to return my PhD in Chemistry...but I know there are still many out there trying to "do the right thing".
Exactly. I have done research as well. All my materials, data, and math are available to anyone that requested them. I wanted other researchers to be able to confirm my findings or correct what was wrong to further advance the understanding in the field. Lol, Of course I always hoped my work was exemplary and there were no errors.
The moment Mann et.al refused to release their data and conspired in emails to refuse to release it or destroy it before he let others review it told me everything I needed to know. Real researchers release their materials. Liars with an agenda do not

Several years ago, I spent a very entertaining evening with Mark Steyn listening to him pontificate about a wide range of subjects, sing and generally kibbutz with his audience. It was a great time.... but i tell ya, as fun as that was I would have given an arm, leg and firstborn to be sitting in the courtroom when Mark delivered this one. That as outstanding!
