The city of Austin, Texas, helped provide a guaranteed income of $1,000 a month to 135 households for a one-year period. According to a new report prepared by the Urban Institute, most of the money went toward housing.
According to the report, nearly 60% of the money used in the UpTogether program was spent on housing, while 20% went to basic needs, 10% went to other bills, and the remainder was put into investments or given to help others.

If they spent the money on drugs and live on the street, does that count as spending on housing?

I don’t believe the numbers and under what authority does a city council give a select group of people tax dollars with NO ACCOUNTABILITY?

Since money is fungible, it can count as anything Deep State says it does.

So, we take the EARNINGS from the neighbors, and hand it out to those who don't do a goddamned thing to earn it?
Yeah; that's a great idea.......

“20% went to basic needs, 10% went to other bills, and the remainder was put into investments or given to help others.”
“Basic needs” = hair extensions, nails, etc. “Other bills” = you have no right to ask how I spend your money! Thank God they ended up with surplus funds so that they could “invest” and “help others” (did they, perhaps, ‘help’ certain political campaigns?)

Money is fungible, and likely went to the drug dealer.

So 0 of it went for drugs, alcohol or gambling?
How in the F@ck do they know that?
To: drwoof
They helped and invested in the local dope dealer, beauty salon and tattoo parlor.

They’re doing this now in Harris County, TX. Only $500 a month. The program is called Uplift Harris. This is the kind of thing that destroys nations.

Universal basic income undermines the importance of individual effort and productivity.
It promotes a collectivist mindset, disregarding the unique value and potential of each individual.
Universal basic income requires significant government intervention and increased taxation.
It discourages personal responsibility and self-reliance, as it removes the necessity for individuals to pursue their own goals.
Universal basic income fails to align with emphasis on reason and reality, as it disregards the rational allocation of resources based on individual actions and choices.
It undermines the principles of individualism and rewards mediocrity, rather than incentivizing personal achievement and success.
Rationality advocates for a society based on voluntary interactions and free markets, where individuals are free to keep the fruits of their own labor.
Universal basic income, by redistributing wealth, violates the principle of property rights, which rationality considers essential for a just and prosperous society.

Is that taxable? Does that affect any income level limits for other Government aid? Is that Stipend subject to seizure for money owed others?

I wonder if any politically connected landlords ended up with large shares of the 60% spent on housing.
But it’s really special that some peoples’ taxes were given to others who used the money for INVESTMENTS.
