Progressives are trying to pester liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, 69, into RETIRING over fears she could die on the job like Ruth Bader-Ginsburg while conservative president is in office

Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is under pressure from fellow liberals to retire amid growing fears she might enable a Republican president to appoint a conservative successor.

CNN commentator Josh Barrow became the latest to demand the 69-year-old step down lest she follow in the footsteps liberal Ruth Bader Ginsburg who died while serving at 87 in 2020.

That death allowed then-president Donald Trump to cement the court's conservative majority with the appointment of Amy Coney Barrett, and some liberals are determined it will not happen again.

'I'm not saying I think Justice Sotomayor is on death's door,' Barrow conceded to his fellow panelists on CNN This Morning.

'But I think it's important, given it's a lifetime appointment, to take a very long-time horizon view on this.

'It seems like that – it would be the right time strategically for her to step down in favor of somebody younger if she's very concerned about the political balance on the court.'

The sitting president is entitled under the constitution to appoint justices to the Supreme Court, subject to Senate approval, and Trump appointed three during his four years in office.

Liberal campaigners mobilized against Justice Stephen Breyer who retired at 83 in 2022, allowing President Biden to appoint Ketanji Brown Jackson to the bench.

The court's 6-3 conservative majority has steamrolled a raft of landmark judgements including the overturning of Roe V Wade and the outlawing of positive discrimination at public institutions.

And the pressure on Sotomayor is growing after she made gloomy remarks about her role in a speech to University of California Law School students this week.

'I live in frustration,' she admitted, 'and every loss truly traumatizes me in my stomach and in my heart.

Leftist commies need certain people to die at a certain time - passed their expiration date. Don't think you're not in the list.

Radicals pimped Merrick Garland. Just another commie.

Yep. We need there to be NO CHANGES to the court in the next 10 months. Everybody just hang on for 10 months, and the danger will have passed. Then President Trump can replace Thomas and Alito with rock ribbed strict constructionists and with any luck, he’ll get to replace the Wide Latina too.

It will be very hard to find a Thomas/Alito rock ribbed strict constructionists replacement. They don’t seem to make them like that any more. Being a strict constitutional constructionist should be the minimum requirement for the position.

No worries. The supposedly “conservative” Justices are only about 30% so.

Not with a list from the Federalist Society!

Broaden the net for other than the leftist law schools, did deeper into the states with real conservatives, and you could find one just fine.

The Dread Pirate Roberts and Barrett are CERTAINLT NOT conservatives. And Brett Kavanaugh is unreliable.

The court is 3-3-3, with three reliable conservatives, three liberal centrist and three flaming maniac leftist.

Barret is the greatest disappointment (worse than Sandra Day O’Connor). Women ALWAYS seem to gravitate to the left, the longer they are in Washington. I wish Trump could have a do over with Barret and Kavanaugh.

The problem is that we’ve been falsely led to believe that Bush / neoCON Republicans = “conservative”.

Kavanaugh and traitor Roberts are prototypical Bush family fake conservatives.

Surprise! They’re not really conservative at all. They’re just country club elitists who think the common men are here to serve them.

Women ALWAYS seem to gravitate to the left,

I remember these sentiments being expressed here during the nomination. Many made the argument.

Wow. They must REALLY be scared that Trump will win. Not that it matters much when it comes to SCOTUS, as his three picks are nothing to write home about. Sometimes they do the right thing, but there were others who always would’ve made the right decision.

Barrett’s just as bad.

The only real Justice we have now appears to be Alito.

And if dingbat W had not first overreached with dingbat Miers, we wouldn’t even have him.

And if she doesn’t agree, they can always Fetterman her:

"Progressives Communists are trying to pester liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, 69, into RETIRING over fears she could die on the job like Ruth Bader-Ginsburg while conservative president is in office?"

Corrected. Why people insist on repeating the lefts misleading terminology is beyond me.

From the article

“Gisele Fetterman was previously labeled as another power-hungry wife, similar to Jill Biden and Hillary Clinton. She’s pushed back on those claims, saying that all she’s ever wanted was to quietly serve the people.”

Fetterman or any other politician who have spouses or partners are not elected to serve anybody. I feel so strongly about this that any politician whose spouse starts politicizing their marital arrangement, that the incumbent spouse should be removed from office immediately.

Yep, G W MORON wanted Miers, which would have been a disaster. It was only conservative backlash at a time he had 30% approvals that forced his hand to withdraw her nomination and give us a real conservative like Alito. Just another instance of the Bush family attempting to screw us over.
