On Friday, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) said that the fact that they cut taxes and “kept things open during COVID” has helped the state grow its population and the state has managed to balance its budget because it has attracted more people to the state.
On CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Lamont stated, “We inherited a $2 billion deficit. The first thing thing I wanted to do five years ago was make sure we didn’t raise taxes. That’s what the five previous governors had done. Now, it’s five years later, we’ve got our budget balanced. We’re making investments. And we’re able to have the biggest middle-class tax cut in history, about $450 million. So, people are taking about a 10% tax cut, and the poorest folks, bottom third, eliminating the income tax for them. … I’ve always said, I don’t want more taxes, I don’t mind more taxpayers. That’s lifting up, keeping our budget solid.”

Yeah; he has to be if he’s talking like a conservative.
When you have NO truth detecting by the media, you can say anything.
You’d think he’s one of us. Could he be?
Maybe he had the same type of stroke as Fetterman.
Connecticut Has One of the Highest Tax Burdens (Again)
By Meghan Portfolio May 31 , 2022
Policy Briefs, Taxes & Regulations
Connecticut residents are again paying some of the highest state and local taxes this year, according to updated figures from the Tax Foundation.
The Tax Foundation’s annual State and Local Tax Burdens report looked at state and local taxes paid by each state’s residents (including taxes paid to other states) compared to the size of the state’s economy.
It showed Connecticut residents last year paid the equivalent of 15.5 percent of the state‘s net product in state and local taxes—the second-highest rate in the nation. Only New York had a greater burden at 15.9 percent. Hawaii had the third-highest rate at 14.1 percent.
He's a liar. And not a very good one, either.
Connecticut was open during Covid?
Connecticut?
Deep blue state, right?
There was no lockdown?
Connecticut Freepers, please weigh in.
Rhode Island was hunting down New Yorkers who escaped to the state. If they could have found refuge in Connecticut, they would have.
One of the crappiest states advocating freedom and prosperity, I have my serious doubts about that.
I would never move to any state on the east or west coast. Too much in the way of liberal politics and lawlessness.
All my employees working from home was an illusion? Wow, I must of smoked the good stuff. My church was really open? The grocery store didnt have limits on who can enter? My relatives from other states were not barred from coming to CT? The schools were actually open?
I dreamed it I guess.
Last honest Connecticut Democrats was William O'Neil. He, as Ella Grasso's Lt Governor - Ella Grasso was a family friend - vetoed an income tax. L.P. Wiecker lied to the Connecticut citizen that the income tax would be in place of a sales tax. He lied ..
Compered to MA, CT was good. Mass had a state employee jab mandate and kept OUTDOOR amusement parks closed all of 2020. CT Never had a jab mandate for state employees, not one city implemented a Jab mandate for indoor dining, etc.
NH was probably the best, MA the worst. I recall RI was not bad for a while, but IIRC had a 2nd state wide mask mandate. Hartford, New Haven, all pressured Lamont to re-impose a state wide mandate mandate in summer/fall 2021 but he refused.
CT wasn’t as bad as MA. The whole travel restricts were a joke. At BDL by the bag claim they had a covid test station and area to fill out the travel form they wanted. I traveled twice during that time and just ignored them and walked out of the airport.
