GOV. LARRY HOGAN: I'm running for U.S. Senate
Twitter/X ^ | Feb 9 | Larry Hogan

Posted on 02/09/2024 9:12:41 AM PST by RandFan

@GovLarryHogan

I am running for the United States Senate – not to serve one party – but to stand up to both parties, fight for Maryland, and fix our nation's broken politics. It’s what I did as Maryland’s governor, and it’s exactly how I'll serve Maryland in the Senate. Let’s get back to work.

Romney is super Conservative Utah is horrible. Romney is Maryland is more than acceptable. If Running against Trump allows the Repukes to take hard left states that’s when it’s acceptable, for future reference. Yes, in case of a few issues it’ll make certain bills look bi partisan when they obviously are not and the next impeachment will be bipartisan support but i think it’s worth it

. . . they’re dumb enough to make him a senator.

Probably not. He doesn't have a "D" after his name.

Massachusetts wouldn't elect Romney to the U.S. Senate either for the same reason.

Electing a GOPe governor is simply a protest against tinkling in your own state's water supply. Sometimes even libtards draw the line there. But tinkling in the nation's water supply? Nah, that's an ingrained habit.

If Hogan wins the GOP nomination, it guarantees a win for the uniparty establishment.

Just what we need. Another GOP self-righteous back stabber in the Senate.

He'll fill in for Romney

He is probably the most “conservative” Senator you can get out of Maryland (unlike the clowns we elect from conservative states like Utah, Oklahoma, etc) so all in all I am for this. We could have had Castle out of Delaware instead of Coons but went with the more “conservative” witch in the primary. How is that working out for Republicans?

That was Martin O’Malley. I remember that nonsense big time.

Marylanders should stay home or vote Democrat rather than this guy.

If he were to win and thus have a voice in the caucus, he would have power in selecting the Senate leadership, and might also wind up leading the Senatorial Republican Campaign Committee, who selects what candidates in other states to fund.

You do not Drain the Swamp by adding more monsters to it who would act against Drainage efforts. Better a Democrat than a Republican who sabotages Republican effort.

You’re right. That had to be the biggest scam I’ve ever seen a corrupt Deep Swamper come up with.

I absolutely agree. It’s nice to see someone here who can count to 51 - the number of seats we need to control the Senate and either get conservative judges appointed or defeat liberal ones.

I hope he wins.

While I’m no fan of Jabba the Hogan, given MD has Cardin and Van Hollen in the Senate, Hogan would be an improvement. At least Hogan might vote for some tax relief and a little more law and order. But the fact that he would be an improvement shows you how disgustingly bad MD politics are. By being a Republican he would help with the obtaining the Senate majority numerically, but not much legislatively.

No, Hogan repelled the “rain tax”. It was Martoon O’Malady that pushed for and signed the property tax increase based on impervious surfaces.

I guess if the people of MD are dumb enough to make him governor, they’re dumb enough to make him a senator.

OH, NO!!! Not with my vote.

It’s depressing enough to be MAGA in this hopelessly Blue hellhole, now my state might replace Mittens or Turtle with this NeverTrumper.

Why can’t HOGan join forces with Krispie Kreme and open some pizzeria or bakery???!!!

Exactly. Hogan is extremely popular in Maryland and very well could win a Senate seat. A Trump Republican is not going to win in Maryland. So the choice is Hogan or a Democrat. I know some people will say there is no difference but there is - Hogan at least will vote for Republican leadership. In some states, that’s not good enough. In Maryland, it is.

I agree with opinionated. In this case in this year, we need the majority in the senate no matter who they are, so trump has a prayer of getting SC appointments thru. Once again we are stuck with sucking the turtle to get anything done. If Thomas drops dead or Soto goes, trump has to get his nominee thru. No schumer ever lets trump get another SC pick.

He is significantly more conservative than whatever Democrat he will be running against

Not so sure. Susan Collins is conservative compared to this guy...and he would be appearing as the darling of the press attacking his own party at every turn. Collins at least isn't that divisive even though she does not philosophically align with conservatives.

I moved to Florida in 2014. Maryland was getting to ridiculous in everything. I’m sure it’s even worse now. Florida has a few warts (home insurance and roof issues) but hopefully they will be a short term problem that will be resolved.
