Maxim Kuzminov, a Russian pilot who dramatically defected to Ukraine by flying his helicopter across the border, is dead, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate (GUR).
The news comes after the Spanish Civil Guard in Alicante province told CNN that a man had been shot to death on February 13 inside the parking garage of an apartment building in Villajoyosa, a seaside resort on the Mediterranean Sea.
Initially, the Civil Guard said the victim was a 33-year-old Ukrainian but later said the identity of the body was still to be determined and part of an investigation, which had been sealed by a judge.
A source at Ukraine’s GUR confirmed to CNN the body of the man found in Spain was that of Kuzminov, but would not comment on how he had died.

Worst of all, he got two of his colleagues killed who didn’t know he was defecting, and who were shot by Ukrainians on landing.

seems like we have many dead bodies being found all over the USA. They may not be helicopter pilots but they are dead and the killers and causes are often unknown.
The subject here may have been involved in all kinds of nefarious businesses. As a helicopter pilot he would be in great demand by unsavory people.
Usually defectors by air have a smart plan, and show some daring airmanship. The USSR never hunted down any of the cold war defectors.
But this turd killed his two fellow crew members. Very uncool. That’s probably why he got whacked.
The original story was that he shot them. Now they say Ukes did. Who knows the truth, but either way, he was a lowlife.
I wonder what the hell he did to piss off the Spaniards.
