Okla. schools chief says death of nonbinary student Nex Benedict is being exploited by ‘radical leftists’

Oklahoma’s public schools chief has blasted “radical leftists” for exploiting the death 16-year-old nonbinary student Nex Benedict — while stating that he does not believe anyone is really transgender or nonbinary.

Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters spoke out after many online continue to suggest the student’s death is linked to a fight in a school bathroom a day earlier, despite police and school officials saying Benedict’s death appears unrelated.

“I think it’s terrible that we’ve had some radical leftists who decided to run with a political agenda and try to weave a narrative that hasn’t been true,” Walters told told The New York Times.

“You’ve taken a tragedy, and you’ve had some folks try to exploit it for political gain.”

YouTube had video from an OK TV station showing the girl walking unassisted into the school office and the interview the police had with her in the hospital. During the interview she was smiling, composed, and articulate. She admitted to starting the fight by throwing water on girls in the restroom who were laughing—she assumed at her.

They also played the mother/grandmother’s (?) phone call to 911 the next day when the girl was dying. The caller seemed strangely calm as she described her daughter’s/granddaughter’s convulsions.
