Judge holds veteran journalist Catherine Herridge in civil contempt for refusing to divulge source

A federal judge held veteran investigative reporter Catherine Herridge in civil contempt on Thursday for refusing to divulge her source for a series of Fox News stories about a Chinese American scientist who was investigated by the FBI but never charged.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper in Washington imposed a fine of $800 per day until Herridge complies, but the fine will not go into effect immediately to give her time to appeal.

...

“Herridge and many of her colleagues in the journalism community may disagree with that decision and prefer that a different balance be struck, but she is not permitted to flout a federal court’s order with impunity,” wrote Cooper, who was nominated to the bench by former President Barack Obama.

...

Herridge, who was recently laid off by CBS News, published an investigative series for Fox News in 2017 that examined Chen’s ties to the Chinese military and raised questions about whether the scientist was using a professional school she founded in Virginia to help the Chinese government get information about American servicemembers.

...

Philbin, who served as deputy White House counsel during the Trump administration, has said that forcing Herridge to turn over her sources “would destroy her credibility and cripple her ability to play a role in bringing important information to light for the public.”

Philbin also told the judge that disclosing the identity of Herridge’s sources raises national security concerns, writing in court papers that there is a “serious risk” that Chen “was involved in making information about U.S. military members available” to the Chinese.

Judge Christopher Cooper is an EVIL DEMOCRAT and doesn’t deserve to be a judge of anyone!

Long past time to tell these DEMOCRAT judges to GFY.

However, I’m sure there are more than a few DOJ Gestapo officers willing to rough up Catherine.

Just ask the FBI. They can tell the judge everything he wants to know about her sources, taxes, acquaintances, everything right down to what color panties she has on today.

They want to know who the source is so they can hunt them down and kill them.

She should tell the judge that CBS stole her research and when it was returned, that information was still missing.

This isn’t about finding out the source(s). This is prior restraint for others. A totem on the highest fence that says, this far and no further at the risk of death.

$800.00 on a contempt charge regarding a case like the Chen caper is a classic 8th amendment violation against excessive fines.

Now if there were a dead body involved, and it was a black, transgender type, Herridge would be in jail today.

She should have said long ago, “I don’t recall.”

Well, it could have been like Catherine Englebrecht, Gregg Phillips or Peter Navarro. Orange prison jumpsuits, hands shackled to their waist and leg irons.

They, unlike, Hunter Biden, "the first son" (have they ever used this term, before?) were guilty of something much worse!

Wait What?😯

This sounds like a *socialist "Democrat Party" FBI* attempt to discover a not-a-socialist FBI agent who was allegedly an "informed source" of information about Red Chinese agent Yanpin Chen.

The "informed source" is probably not of interest, re Yanpin Chen.

Instead, the "informed source" is probably of interest - because this source has leaked other information regarding a different person who is connected to Democrat Party / Biden Administration corruption.

Is my guess: That, the "informed source" is trying to do the right thing, and the leftists want to stop that.

This judge is garbage. He sentenced a 55 yr old woman to jail for entering the capitol on J6. She is a lawyer who went to law school with him She had asked that he recuse himself, as he reportedly made a play for her which she rejected.

Looks like the DC occupation government has deemed her the flavor of the month. Wonder if it will wake her up and make her MAGA, or if she will still vote for her tormentors?

Some people being shot were yelling “Long live Stalin” as they stood against the wall.
