The Department of Education is opening an investigation into whether the Oklahoma school district where the late 16-year-old transgender student Nex Benedict attended high school failed to appropriately respond to sex-based harassment, according to a letter obtained by NBC News on Friday.
The letter was addressed to the Human Rights Campaign, the country's largest LGBTQ rights group, which had filed a complaint with the department following Benedict's Feb. 8 death.
Benedict died a day after engaging in a fight with three other students in a school bathroom at Owasso High School, in a case that has drawn intense media attention and condemnation from LGBTQ advocates around the world.

She appeared perfectly fine in the doctor’s office. Chatting it up with no apparent injuries.

She was fine after the dust-up, just a few minor bruises. She obviously did something to harm herself in the following days. Perhaps a suicide attempt that was more successful than planned?

In the police video where they talked to her in the hospital, she states she started the fight by splashing the kids with water when they teased her and called her names.
So, she admits to starting the fight, gets beaten up, then dies over 24 hours later.
Just a lot of government CYA and blaming on innocents.

Threats that would but confirm the need to scrap them. Neither has a KGB-type mission. Neither was promulgated to spy on the American Public. Neither was charged with bringing to ‘justice’ those whose only infraction was to criticize administrative power.
