DeWine on Endorsing Trump: ‘I Will Support the Republican Nominee’

Governor Mike DeWine (R-OH) SAID Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that he will support the Republican nomination when asked about endorsing former President Donald Trump.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “We saw that the former president earned enough delegates to clinch the Republican nomination this past week, you have not endorsed him yet. Will you?”

It is not a high bar, but if he meets it without a long "but ..." that is acceptable. Trump rubs some people the wrong way, and no one is going to confuse him with Russell Kirk in the underlying philosophy department. He loves his country. He loves what made this country both Good and Great. And he genuninely works to fulfill his promises despite an avalanche of barriers put up by those who are supposed to be his allies, and especially by supposedly apolitical institutions.
Some people cannot admit to themselves that we are at an existential crossroads. Others, I fear, benefit from compromising with evil, and hoping to buy enough time and space that it doesn't collapse until they are done in this life. Still others may fear bringing the issue to a boil, and would rather kick the can doen the road, when it is already way too late for that.
Lead, follow, or Get Out of the Way. DeWine chose, "Get out of the way". In the current climate, providing he is not sabotaging behind the scenes, Raffersberger-style, that is minimally accptable.
