WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday refused to halt a prison sentence for former Trump White House official Peter Navarro as he appeals his contempt of Congress conviction.
Navarro is due to report Tuesday to a federal prison for a four-month sentence, after being found guilty of misdemeanor charges for refusing to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. He had asked to stay free while he appealed his conviction.
Navarro has maintained that he couldn’t cooperate with the committee because former President Donald Trump had invoked executive privilege. Lower courts have rejected that argument, finding he couldn't prove Trump had actually invoked it.
The Monday order signed by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who handles emergency applications from Washington, D.C., said he has “no basis to disagree" with the appeals court ruling, though he said the finding doesn't affect the eventual outcome of Navarro's appeal.
His attorney Stanley Woodward declined to comment.

Real Life is no fairy tale. The West is lost. Sauron wins again. The American experiment of individual liberty is over.
I wonder if the Regime is going to arrange for Navarro to be released into the general prison population and conveniently killed as a further lesson of the price of opposing the tyrants?
They also refused to intervene in the election steal coup of 2020.

If they had done their job back then, whether we liked their judgement or not, the country could have avoided the huge messes we are facing today.
Dispelling Myths: How Classification and Declassification Actually Work - by Brian Greer and Wendy Leben, June 2, 2023
EXCERPT:
In a perfect world, anytime the president wanted to declassify something, they [ie. he or she] would:
(1) consult with senior officials from the agencies that originated the information, as well as those with an interest in the information (for instance, the State Department if the information had diplomatic repercussions) and
(2) document the decision in writing so that agencies could properly implement it, including by downgrading and properly marking documents that contained the declassified information. But even then, the president should be free to declassify information by whatever means they [ie. he or she] choose.

Follow through:
The President appointing a staff to manage departure from the Office of the President and from the White House. That includes, said staff:
a) being on top of arrangements with General Services Administration {"GSA") and National Archives and Records Administration ("NARA"), and
b) having the latest knowledge re what to expect regarding official procedures, and
c) having the know-how, and
d) establishing your own procedures
to follow through. Including, given that Executive powers a privileges end, being sure that what the President declassifed while having Executive powers and privileges, is recorded and marked.
Because the former President will be dealing with bureaucrats whose mission is to be picky at the least, especially when the bureaucrats do not favor said former President. (That, not being news to the former President.)
They are fine with the mess.
So a hero goes to prison for defending the president’s executive privilege and Hillary is not even indicted for initiating the worst political scandal in US history: the Russia collusion hoax.
What kind of government do we have Mr. Franklin? A banana republic if you can keep it.
Yep. He should leave the country and await the re-election of President Trump who should then immediately pardon him. I don’t even care if he had to go to Russia to apply for political asylum. He should do it. I would.
It was an illegal committee.
Doesn’t surprise me a bit, Roberts chose sides with his twisted Obamacare decision.
Sorry he’s in jail; but he could have avoided it by showing-up to testify, pleading the 5th, and telling those libs off in the process.
Roberts all but denied the appeal. By the time the appeal is heard, Navarro will have finished his sentence. That part of his life he will never be able to retrieve even if he wins the appeal. That sounds like irreparable harm.
EC
When he is gone, even those who profess to hate him will miss him. Because they are going to learn the hard way that those in positions of power who hate Donald Trump hate them too. And will make corpses out of them. But by then, it will be too late for them to cry. Hell with them. .
Roberts should be the first person sent to Gitmo for conspiring to rig the 2020 Election, and aiding and abetting the invasion of the U.S. by foreigners.
John Roberts another one who believes his robe comes with a crown the trend is getting out of hand fast.
Tea party has meeting
Yes I would do that as well..screw the system...
Ask Mr. Trump why that did not happen.
Because Trump is a great American.
A great American would prosecute Hillary for her violations of the espionage act, among other things.
Sessions or Barr???
Laughable.
And now the excuses begin ...
