Fed-up homeowner arrested after tense standoff with squatters ‘stealing’ $1M house she inherited from parents

A New York City property owner recently ended up in handcuffs following a fiery standoff with a bunch of squatters she has been trying to boot from her family’s home, tense footage of the ordeal shows.

Adele Andaloro, 47, was recently nabbed after she changed the locks on the $1 million home in Flushing, Queens that she says she inherited from her parents when they died, ABC’s Eyewitness News reported.

“It’s enraging,” the homeowner said of the squatter saga. “It’s not fair that I, as the homeowner, have to be going through this.”

Andaloro claims the ordeal erupted when she started the process of trying to sell the home last month but realized squatters had moved in — and brazenly replaced the entire front door and locks.

By the time she gets that house the squatters will have gutted it, sold what they can and destroyed what they can’t sell or take with them.

After that, they will move on to the next home they will invade and do the same thing again

Welcome to the Progressive Utopia on Earth.

Simple solution: move the squatters into the district attorney’s house. Problem solved.

Not much different in California. I’ve read on my local Next Door app of people taking their rooms for rent and ADUs off the market b/c they’re afraid of squatters.

Lots of ADUs going up in my neighborhood - but they’re not for rent, they’re being built for elderly relatives.

“I’d burn it down.”

That’s why the insurance industry is ok with the status quo.

Lock her up so she can’t burn it down I guess.

There’s a guy in California who specializes in removing squatters. He breaks in and squats with them (with the owners written permission). He sets up cameras and then annoys them. If they leave, he sets their property out on the front lawn. He doesn’t steal it. If they call the cops, he shows them his legal right to be there so they do nothing to him. He annoys them until they leave.

I’ll bet in the 70+ pages of h/o policy lingo there are coverage exemptions if squatters get in.

Her mistake, aside from having a news camera crew film her actions, was not handling this the way a true New Yorker would.

First, you hire a motorcycle gang...

The Free State of Florida just fixed this: at the request of the legal owner/lessee, cops can now eject almost anyone from a dwelling that can’t show written proof of ownership or valid written lease contract ...

the Florida law should be a model for legislation in the rest of the 56 states ...

NYC. Probably the “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” party.

It’s OK, that’s the way things work in new york now. She has just had her house fined away from her.

I wonder what “crime” they will think up for her.

Florida has put an end to this BS.....Any state Legislature that doesn’t follow the model there is complicit.

First flood the country with illegal immigrants who are economic migrants. Then have them move into to private property illegally in a communist style takeover because illegals have a right to housing. It’s what’s happening.

I have a feeling that La Cosa Nostra would not tolerate this sort of behavior. It's bad for business.

It doesn't matter any more in NY than it does in Chicago.

Why do squatters have more rights than tenants? Makes no sense.
