12 years (2 contiguous terms) as Senator is enough. Then sit out for 6 years (1 term) before returning. If the politician is incapable of holding a private sector job during that time period. They could run for Gov, the House, county commissioner, mayor in the interim.

Repeal the 17th Amendment and term limits for senators might not be necessary. Every state legislator, governor, state grandee would see themselves as worthy of that office so I think there would be plenty of competition for it.

Repeal the 17th Amendment!
State legislatures can’t do worse!

McConnell is more dangerous to Americans than Putin is.

I wouldn’t mind losing one of my Senators, Mitch McConnell, but I wouldn’t want to lose my other Senator, Rand Paul.

Remember Thad Cochran? You are correct. Mitch is every bit the creep that Chuck U Schumer is.

Term limits are long overdue.

Without term limits, congressmen get disproportionate power based solely on seniority! That explains why districts don’t want to get rid of their congressman, even though they are from a Party they oppose (with policies they do not agree with).

That disproportionate power, ‘brings home the bacon’—at the expense of the entire country.

Of course he does! Think of how much riskier it would be for a corporation to INSURE that it had totally bought off a new representative of the people every couple of terms. That would introduce a lot of uncertainty into the lives of US elites.

McConnell did a lot to stabilize the Supreme Court

Americans deserve so much more than someone who is 'good with judges', so pardon me if I don't applaud someone from the permanant political class for simply doing a limited part of their job.

Term limits? Who cares. Repeal the 17th amendment and restore control of the senate to the states. The founders understood the 4th check and balance, the states control of the senate. McConnell and Schumer are precisely why this was necessary and why the 17th needs to be repealed.

The major plus side of term limits no more Biden types raping the system and screwing over the tax payers.

Just think of the loss of acts of treason alone makes it worth it.

That may be true but the majority are dirt bags. When the majority are fighting against you, how do you make an exception for the honest few?

Maybe, but the price is worth it. no one should make a career from being a "servant of the people".

Term Limits are a surrender of “WE THE PEOPLE”. Abolish the 22nd Amendment.

Not just term limits for all federal level politicians but also for all civil servants. This unbridled power in the hands of a few at the top of the federal food chain has become a major problem.

They should also be vetted by independent watchdog groups and reevaluated yearly to see if they have gone off the rails. Those watchdog groups should also be vetted and watched by other watchdog groups. A full check and balance of corrupt individuals and groups. All guided by one thing, the US Constitution as it is written.

I think term limits is a great idea.
I like the idea that the rule should apply to congress also and the top 3 GS grade levels. as well as the Senate.

Term Limits should apply across the board in Congress.
