Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) has reportedly told his colleagues to oppose the idea of term limits, which aligns with his past public statements.

A report from Axios said two sources indicated McConnell told Senate Republicans that “imposing term limits on the Senate leader is a bad idea during a Wednesday meeting about the direction of the conference”:

McConnell was one of several senators who spoke during an hour-and-a-half conference meeting, which was called by conservative Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.). McConnell spoke against imposing term limits for the top GOP position, calling it a bad idea, according to two sources in the room. It’s something the [sic] has opposed in the past. McConnell said term limits would weaken the leader’s power to do their job and potentially hurt fundraising.

Maybe the people should step up and stop electing them term after term after term.

potentially hurt fundraising.

That's all it's ever about. The sack of crap go to D.C. on a government salary and are all millionaires within a couple of years. Tell me they are engaged in any honest dealings.

They aren’t electing them over and over. The big name Republicans are stealing elections too.

You may lose some excellent, very experienced people with term limits.

“Maybe the people should step up and stop electing them term after term after term.”

Unfortunately there are advantages to having a Senator with “seniority”

Maybe some form of “rotating” term limits would be a better idea. Cant hold a public office after a term (or two) but if you did a good job you could always run again next time around.

We don’t need no steenkin’ “term limits”. We’ve got all the RINOs quitting on their own.

This guy is a real POS. You would think being as old as he is, he’d want to get right with God, but money and power are his god.

Ah, McButthole keeps sinking to lower and lower levels. After this POS assumes room temp (hopefully, very very soon) , publish the location of the grave site so that we can visit and take bodacious Obamas on it.

McConnell did a lot to stabilize the Supreme Court. He didn’t falter.

Mitch is the reason for term limits to be imposed.

Maybe, but the price is worth it. no one should make a career from being a "servant of the people".

If the goal was to provide better service to "the people" the present system has failed, and it's because they may go to DC with high goals but get sucked into the "Life of the Privileged" at our expense.

Two terms as a senator and 6 terms as a congress critter {and any combination that equals 12 years} should be enough sucking at the public teat.

After that they could run for President and after a 20 year total run, go home.

I see it your way. Term limits would be another law for protecting voters from themselves.

Term limits make it harder to sell their offices to the Chinese.

Term limits is good enough for the president, then it should be good enough for the senate.

Need term limits for the bureaucrats...and need to require Congresscritters spend at least 50% of their time in their district...and live there

Technically I believe that term limits should be applied to all FedGov employees, appointees, and elected officials with the exception of very low-level job positions. The idea is to eliminate all the little ‘kingdoms’ that exist under the umbrella of GSA that answer to no one and enjoy unlimited power. Working for the FedGov should not be a lifetime endeavor.
