Biden signs $1.2 trillion spending package to keep government open

President Biden on Saturday signed a $1.2 trillion government funding bill to stave off a government shutdown, capping a frenetic sprint by lawmakers to pass the final batch of appropriations measures.

Biden praised the measure as a compromise, and “good news for the American people.”

“This agreement represents a compromise, which means neither side got everything it wanted,” Biden continued, emphasizing that it rejected “extreme cuts from House Republicans and expands access to child care, invests in cancer research, funds mental health and substance use care, advances American leadership abroad, and provides resources to secure the border that my Administration successfully fought to include. That’s good news for the American people.”

Why not begin today to begin writing the 2025 fiscal year bill. Why do they do these last minute to 6 months late song and dance. It’s embarrassing especially the house where it begins.

Can I print my own money to pay my bills?
If not, why not?
What’s the moral difference?

“This agreement represents a compromise...”

I’m not seeing any compromise.

The second order of business will be dispatching the extra border agents to act as check-in clerks for the influx of illegals. The first order is obviously sending money to pay for war

I’m only angry at Mississippi republicans for returning Senator Wicker in last week’s primary.

Update of an old antiwar saying: What if we got a lot of money and the Defense Department had to have a baked goods sale at a table with a donations jar?

What if the US Government greatly reduced spending and refused to increase the deficit and the national debt? And illegal aliens, urban entitlement hogs, Ukrainians, climate change fetishists and Dem voting blocs had to earn their own way?

I have to give credit to Joe Biden. Why should he “compromise” when he’s getting everything he wants?

Don’t know. Wicker is 70+. Time for new blood. Instead we have to hope it’s not a rat in the governors mansion should he croak.

Good question. If the answer turns out to be yes, try to imitate our wonderful federal government. Spend only a small portion of your money on useful things. As for the rest:

RATS have never had to compromise because Repukes are weak-kneed, lilly-livered, gutless wonders, and always have been. I'm not voting for my first term GOP Rep. I gave him a shot, and he's been a disappointment. Has voted to send money to Ukraine in the past, and voted for this POS Bill. He's dead to me.
