FCC launches crackdown on signal jammers sold by Amazon, others

Uh-oh, Amazon. Looks like the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is not playing around when it comes to selling illegal signal jammers. The agency just went public with an investigation into Amazon and other major retailers for allegedly pushing these dodgy devices that can block your cell signal, GPS, and more.

Typically advertised as “drone deterrents” or “privacy tools”, these nefarious gadgets are specifically designed to block radio frequencies. This has serious ramifications, cutting off cellular devices and GPS units and impacting emergency communication channels.

One sure way to block geolocation or phone signals is to declare that you're using the signal to prove ballot fraud.

NEVER say that you're peacefully protesting actions of the Regime or the Friends of Biden, Incorporated.

So we have to put up with our vehicle scanning and transmitting our every move. Good job, Big Brother. You have our backs or at least a target on them.

Another bunch of useless bureaucrats having another ‘crackdown’. I think I’ve got an old Radio Shack book with the schematics.

Signal jammers should be legal. For schools, churches and manufacturing facilities. Employers should be able to jam cell signals on their property. Would be a significant improvement to safety.
I was looking at and considered buying cell signal scrambler from the UK back when I had teenagers😠

Corrugated metal roofing panel, and a guy slinging salad.

Can we buy another clue?

Criminals are using these to deactivate security cameras in order to rob homes and steal cars.

metal is the number one blocker of cell phone signals. Have a metal roof and you probably have dead zones in your house and/or degraded signal

Your kids can’t get through if stalkers jam their phone signals, either.

Or your family if there’s a riot in the neighborhood.

I wonder if Hamas was using those things in October.

Yep, they are popular with criminals. My sister was at home alone when a guy jammed their Ring system and tried to get in the back door. The door was locked and he moved on. He was just trying to find an easy score, didn’t break windows, etc.

She got pinged on her iPhone and got a glimpse of the guy as he walked up to the backdoor before her system froze. Called the cops and came down the stairs with her .38. She said ‘if he had known about my redneck upbringing, he wouldn’t have tried to get in’.

They’re just going after the low-hanging fruit. These devices can be had anywhere and the government has had this capability for many years as well.

It has been illegal to jam or cause interference to legitimate radio signals for decades and decades. If you don’t want someone to hear YOUR signal, or locate you from YOUR signal, turn off whatever device YOU are transmitting from.

You have no right to deny MY use of the radio spectrum just because YOU don’t want to use it and are too damned lazy to turn off your own devices.

Are these the sort of jammers being used to facilitate burglaries out in California?

Another article today explained how the wifi/cell phone/gps signal jammers are being used by thieves to shut down a home security system’s ability to transmit images from the security cameras (usually a wiffi signal), leaving the home system not seeing persons aproaching (or leaving) the house.
