The protestant work ethic is real.
The Spanish priests were trying to show compassion for the suffering indigenous people, who when enslaved died rather quickly, sometimes from disease, sometimes from mass suicides. So they imported Africans, who were believed to be more hardy. Later, British privateers and later privates captured some of these slaves together with the other booty, and in 1619 auctioned off indentured servant contracts in Jamestown for those negroes, and much later the limited contracts turned into lifelong enslavement, only of negroes.
They came with benefits, too. Their music has changed the world, and the writings of Frederic Douglas, Harriet Jacobs, Booker T. Washington, Thomas Sowell and Langston Hughes, for example, have had a huge impact.
We could argue/discuss the positives and negatives all day long, I guess. But from my perspective this country would have been far better off without the introduction of slavery.
Just the ones that ruined the “New World”.

There’s always ‘The Final Solution’ and I’d call it just that after 200+ years of failure. Export all young women to countries that have French speaking people. Those left behind can ‘wither on the vine’. Heard it somewhere. It would take 20 years. The DR can have it while we use it for a work farm/penal colony. Pay 3rd world wages like those who work on the cruise ships.

And what, as an American, do we get for our effort?
Endless wars in the Far and Middle East, making enemies we would never have had if we minded our own business.
Israel has the only lobby group, AIPAC, that doesn’t have to register as foreign agents. Why is that so?

Think about it for a moment and you will see that it’s true. In fact we’re living it.
There’s only one real solution - separation. Each side should go their own way and control their destiny as they see fit. It’s best for both.
It’s a sad and unfortunate reality, but a reality nonetheless... and it won’t go away - things will only get worse.
One thing I noticed about this video, they spin Aristide as being just a sweet priest (which they don’t mention) who wanted reparations from France. He was actually advocating violence towards the Haitian upper class from the getgo. They also call those who rebelled against Aristide “extreme right wingers,” but I couldn’t help noticing that the protestors at the presidential palace and celebrating triumphally after his resignation were all totally black. I thought all of Haiti’s right wing were mulatto.
The video was informative in many ways, but the authors are obviously left-wing to some extent. Even so, they provided plenty of useful facts in an accessible format, but much of what they say has got to be taken with a tumbler of salt.

Totally on subject, and totally accurate. Riiight.
US gets intelligence, technological advances, and a politically stable partner in the ME. And not for “trillions,” either. Not even half or a quarter of a trillion. And the US came rather late to giving Israel any aid at all. Endless wars? You mean like that “endless war” in June of 1967, which we won decisively with very little help from the US. Our chief ally at the time was France! The US was providing spare parts to Jordan, one of our assailants. When we kicked the a@@es of Jordan, Egypt and Syria at once with an efficiency and speed that would have done Bruce Lee proud, LBJ figured we were bankable and useful and started cozying up and offering aid as well as collaboration on military R&D and intelligence.
You want to cut all US aid to Israel? Fine. I’m all for that, too, so we can hear less from chuckleheads like you, to say the least. But there is a way you can cut off Israel right now. Stop letting us live rent-free in your head, and stop your POTUS from micromanaging our imperative war against Hamas, Iran and Hizbollah.
