Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, 45, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, 42 — both of whom considered likely candidates for higher office in the future.

After Gavin Newsom, they may be next in line.

But if this bridge turns out to be like the "Big Dig" and there's a great chance of that happening, the Democratic Party will look for somebody else.

So this is a test that Moore and Buttigieg did not want.

Buttigieg may have been a “rising star” when nobody knew anything about him and all he was doing was preening for the media and not fixing potholes in South Bend. Since he got in the Cabinet, he’s been a disaster, but there are enough safe Democrat seats in Congress that he’ll probably end up there at some point.

The Democrats can’t move Moore into the spotlight fast enough he is their only hope. That bridge will be rebuilt at Trump speed and Moore will get the credit.
