California’s $20 fast food minimum wage balloons menu prices — with some chains increasing costs by nearly $2

You’ll be dropping a lot of dollar on that Whopper.

Menu prices at fast food chains across California have increased, as a new law went into effect requiring them to pay a $20-an-hour minimum wage to workers from Monday.

The Post checked menus at several restaurants in the Los Angeles area to see if the costs are already being passed onto consumers — with mixed results.

The biggest leap on was at a Burger King, where a Texas Double Whopper meal cost $15.09 on March 29, but surged to $16.89 on April 1, a price whopping increase of $1.80 for the same meal.

Most other items increased anywhere from 25 cents to a dollar. Burger King did not respond to a request for comment.

$16.89 for a burger, fries and a drink? Newsome wants to do to the US what he had done for Californication.

THOUSANDS of fast food workers have already lost their jobs as a result of this, with more to come as sales drop and automation increases. I hope they don’t squander their unemployment checks at their former employers’ places of business

Checking my watch to see how many big Democrat donors begin complaining to Newsome that they were unaware this would affect their businesses.

This could become the most quickly-reversed wage hike in history.

Why Burger King, McD, 5 guys or even CheapOlte?

All of em run $17+ for the so called meal.

A chicken at Walmart or Costco is $5

In-N-Out is $9 for a meal.

Real wages have not increase enough to Justify continued buying at any of the National Burger joints....

They'll never reverse it because Dems never admit that they were wrong. They'll just camouflage it in different clothing and/or slow it down a little.

The REAL tragedy would be if Tommy’s Burgers get too pricey.

They can bite concrete.

Last time I went to a fast food slop joint they wanted like $24+ dollars for two burgers, fries and 2 cokes...

I felt like I had been caught off guard and robbed at gun point. Never went back to any McWhoppers again.

These hamburger franchises are so unimaginative!

Why not simply reduce the size of the portions, so as to be able to continue selling them for the same price?

A jumbo order of fries would then consist of only three fries.

A hamburger would have the dimensions of a canapé.

At the same time, the listed caloric values would fall, giving the impression that the food was somehow "more nutritious."

It's a win-win, I tell yuh!

Regards,

I believe MOST Union type pay scales are based on Minimum wage. Min Wage *X So, it will never go down if it adversely affects Union-ish employees.
