Tens of thousands of Americans have been made redundant at large companies this year. according to Warn Tracker, a website that tracks upcoming layoffs based on WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988) notices.

The WARN Act mandates that employers conducting large-scale layoffs or closures notify employees as well as state government officials of job losses at least 60 days in advance. WARN notices must be served by companies that have 100 or more full-time employees or 100 or more employees who, in aggregate, work at least 4,000 hours per week, excluding overtime.

Does not mean anything. It is the most populous state.

Mass layoffs of Americans means lots of openings created for the “Newcomers.” Aren’t they fortunate to arrive just when all those positions open up.

Our son has a friend in IT that lost his job in California a year ago, moved back to Ohio, found a job there almost immediately, and was just laid off again. I think it’s a shame. He’s a good person, and a good worker. I know he’ll manage, but to have that happen so close together in timing, well, I know he’s a little depressed.

The job market is awful. I don’t care how they spin the numbers…it sucks out there right now. Up until last year my wife and I had 1 job each and got bye, now with two jobs each we’re struggling. I’m in sales for manufacturing and it’s the worst I’ve seen it in 36 years.

Because of AI and robotics, there are a lot of jobs disappearing. Uncle Joe wants as many of them available to go to illegals. So tired of this garbage.

Circa 1983 the oilfield boom went bust. I was a consultant and making the big bucks, about what a doctor would make. My neighbors were doctors, engineers, geologists and lawyers.

I had 17 years of experience in the oilfield. Those making the big bucks were laid of first, that was me. I no longer had any marketable skills. I sold my house and airplane (that part hurt the plane that is) I went back to school and became a pharmacist in 2-1/2 years by taking huge course loads. I approached school as a job, not a playground of fun. I went to school year round and had the first two years of pre pharmacy done via my first degree in geology and also taking much chem and life sciences as electives. It paid off. Pharmacy school is 6 years if you start from zero.

Our great nation will give anyone success if you get off your butt and go for it. I paid for both my degrees. My last year I was broke and took out student loans which I paid off in two years after graduation. I hate owing money to anybody.

The government lies about the economy the jobs increase numbers are an example. It seems that the revise the number to true only after an election season when people are not paying attention.

Those were tough days in Texas and South Louisiana.

People in Texas adapted to the changing economy.

Down in South Louisiana, they just waited for the boom to return and it never did.

That is good advice. He is pretty young still, and a bachelor.

My dad had to start over at age 40 with a wife and 6 kids, ranging from 8-20. My oldest brother lived at home while he went to junior college and worked. Dad worked 3 jobs for a while, and we grew bell peppers on rented farm land from my uncle. None of that was easy, but he was a determined man. We had to pull together. Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

they’re lying and messing up on a National scale here.

I was listening to the radio this morning and they ran a promo for Clark Howard the savings guru and he was saying 1) 75% of Americans feel ‘better’ about their coming finances this year now and, 2) the days of inflation we’ve had are ‘behind us.’

Over the years I’ve heard him say leftist leaning things buried in all the scrooge savings blather, but THIS just proves that he’s a paid leftist influencer - and he’s ramped up to help re-elect Biden. Listen harder at what he says - you’ll see it.
