Agreed. The places of my youth, wonderful small towns and cities in Northern California, are shells of their former selves. This is still home, but it’s disheartening. Particularly when I just paid nearly $12,000 in income taxes to a pack of lunatics in Sacramento who continue to destroy a once beautiful and prosperous state, and who consider traditional white men (like me) their enemy. We once had the best schools, free colleges, a thriving economy, and were the envy of the world. No more. Our schools are near the worst in the nation, the middle class has been hollowed out, and our state facilities/parks are decrepit. On the other hand, we do provide housing, food, and full medical care for wetbacks, including ‘gender affirming’ surgery....
It seems those who want to save democracy the most can’t be bothered to have open discussion of their most radical plans and give not two figs about popular support for them.
