New York Judge Threatens Trump With Jail Time During First Day In Court - 'Election Interference' by: Sterling Mosley 04.15.2024
On Monday, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump traveled to New York City for the first day of his criminal trial in the hush money case brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D). The defense and prosecution will begin to decide who will serve on the 12-man jury that will decide the 45th president's fate. During the hearing, Trump, who has repeatedly railed against the case as political persecution, was threatened by presiding Justice Juan Merchan that he would face jail time if he were to interrupt court proceedings or if he failed to appear while the trial was taking place.
During the hearing, Judge Merchan explained to the former president that he would be arrested if he did not appear at every hearing in the criminal trial in the coming months, a move that many conservative commentators claim is election interference. "If you do not show up, there will be an arrest," Merchan said. The trial is expected to take place over the next couple of months, perhaps even lasting until June.

WTF are Trump’s attorneys doing? There are half a dozen reasons this could be appealled to the Supreme Court to stop this outragous unconstitutional process.
Arguing in court to this judge whether RICO would apply to this case is a stupid waste of time.
Merchan is not a judge. He is an unethical, integrity challenged activist Democrat in a black robe. With any luck he will contract a debilitating disease where his mind knows what is happening to him but he can do nothing about it. Scum like him deserve no good will.

Trump is under Secret Service protection. If they put Trump in prison, he’d be killed shortly. Will the SS allow this? How does that work?

Trump lawyer Todd Blanche says Donald Trump wants to attend next week’s Supreme Court hearing on immunity.
“He could be back here in the afternoon, by lunchtime,” Blanche says.
Judge Merchan responds: “He’s required to be here. He’s not required to be at the Supreme Court. I will see him here next week.”

I assume they have special federal prisons, or sections, for felons who are at high risk. (Not that Trump is a felon.)
