I'm sorry if our patriotism offends thee......
It isn't patriotism that offends me. Beliefs, and forcing me to go by another's beliefs, is what offends me.
By LDS standards I must believe as you (your "our" tells me you are LDS too) believe.
I don't believe anything LDS purports, especially their "additional Bible" in the Book of Mormon.
Sorry, just not my cup of tea.
Break out the "Urim and Thummim" and pass the Salamander Papers.
You LDS folks remind me too much of Nehemiah Scudder and the Prophet.

Beliefs, and forcing me to go by another's beliefs, is what offends me. By LDS standards I must believe as you (your "our" tells me you are LDS too) believe.

There are 13 Articles of Faith that summarize the LDS beliefs. #11 is "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." I don't know where you get the idea that the LDS people are bent on "forcing" you to believe the way they do.

By the way, the Salamander Letter was a forgery and has no relevance to LDS beliefs.

Also, concerning our earlier posts about genealogies, there is much more genealogy in the Bible than simply a list of Jesus' genealogy. If you are really interested in the LDS view of genealogy, there is plenty of information on www.lds.org

What on earth are you talking about? Most of "us" strive to live in accordance with our Articles of Faith, two of which are:

11.We claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

Who is forcing you to believe as "we" do? I would hope that you are not so easily compelled in such things. FWIW, the term "free agency" just happens to pop up frequently in our religious life.

You would do well to become informed about matters that you incorrectly believe that you understand. And your venom and apparent bigotry does not square well with the tenets of Christianity, Judaism, and other systems of belief......

I'm curious:

Just who is it that has been "forcing" you to believe the way Latter-Day Saints believe?

I mean, I've heard a lot of allegations against us before, but that's a first, I must say.

Details?

"By LDS standards I must believe as you believe. "

I'm not sure what you mean by 'must', no force is used to convert a person, our intention is to explain what we believe, why we belive it, and encourage the person to pray and find out from God if it is true or not. Our 11th article of faith is: " We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."

"...Salamander Papers"

Hey, if you are going to drag out false accusations, at least call them by their right name. The White Salamander Letter was a forgery, and the man who forged it is currently in jail.

"You LDS folks remind me too much of Nehemiah Scudder and the Prophet."

I really like all the Robert A. Heinlein I've read but I haven't gotten to that one yet so I don't know in what ways you see them as similar. Either Joseph was a true prophet or not, and if he was, would not Satan do all he could to slander and defame him? Be carefull about who's opinion you decide to put your trust in.
