Sorry Cindy, I would buy the pervert explanation except for one line in the story.

Herston said that the equipment had a film of dust on it indicating that it had been there for some time. It also had a piece of tape on it indicating the room number, Room 253.

This makes it pretty clear that there was more than one camera involved and more than one room. Who, what or where is unknown -- but I would bet money on either a law enforcement op or hotel management. Either way, it is an obvious violation of the civil rights of everyone who stayed in that room.

Well, of course we're speculating, but that's pretty standard m.o. for perverts. Since the room number is allegedly noted on the evidence; it's probably a bigger pervert operation than a one-room peeper.

The number on the camera isn't neccessarily proof there's more than one- it could be that the number was on there to make sure the instasller didn't screw up and put it in the wrong room.
