The Wellstone Eulogy...written by Bob Shrum on the the Acela Express from Boston Yesterday
Personal Observation | 10/29/2002 | Redleg Duke

Posted on 10/29/2002 8:25:11 AM PST by Redleg Duke

Yesterday, Bob Shrum, noted DemocRAT strategist, hurriedly called contacts, digging up "accomplishments" to include in the eulogy that Tom Harkin is to "deliver from the heart" today at the Wellstone Memorial Service. I sat near him in the First Class Car of the Acela Express from Boston, where he was coaching Shannon O'Brien to be an attack dog, to Newark, where he was scheduled to meet with Lautenburg that evening.

He used a variety of sources. A virtual RAT focus group. Look for such accolades as "campaign finance reform", "saving the family farm from big agri-business" (Can anyone say Tysons Foods?), "saving social security", and of course "prescription drug benefits".

Look for Tom Harkin spewing alligator tears and try to dig up or get out the vote for sympathy.

I listened to his cell phone calls all the way to Newark! It was sickening! These are RATS...It is all about power. To them, while the "early bird gets the worm, the second RAT gets the cheese!"

I got the impression, listening in to Shrum's conversation with Slick, that he and Gephardt are concerned about not being effective with their Social Security Demogagery.

Also, Shrum said that the only ads that were at all effective with the "focus group" in Mass were take offs on the attack ads Fatso used against Romney in 94.

I don't want to sound paranoid, but it does seem they were ready before the smoke had cleared from the crash site. I hope you are wrong.

The Supreme Court Judges will be decided in this election.

Talking about Wellstone being against the big "agro-businesses" in Minnesota, isn't Walter Mondale an attorney for the huge grain conglomerate CONTINENTAL GRAIN, an offshoot of the French giant GRAN COMPAGNIE CONTINENTAL?

Does anyone have any info on this?

Shame on the kids. The RAT party of today has no redeeming qualities. It wasn't always like this. We used to be able to have reasonable debate over ideas. Sinkmaster, I am afraid, has changed that forever. Beside rape, 9-11, and the sale of nuclear technology to our future enemy, his legacy will include dividing Americans like has never been seen in our Republic.

His oponant, Callihan(D) is using the political time to pound more nails in his coffin. Where's the press?
Excuse me if I feel no pain over "St. Welstones" death. Democrats never stop campaining.

Are you telling me you overheard the Bob Shrum half of a conversation with Clinton about the speech?

Wow. I'd have been happy to be a fly on the wall and here you had a first-class seat...

justshe: do I have you mixed up with another freeper, or are you the one who's been successful in getting a couple of items to Brit Hume? If so they may LOOK for your email address in their box.

And by the way this is a textbook example of what DOES belong in Breaking News. Kudos. Get out of that meeting soon and give us more details!

I sent a full report to Rush via email last night. I put Shrum's name in the subject line to trigger his filter. I hope it got through!

I hate to rain on your parade, but Rush will NEVER run this. You cannot substantiate this or confirm it via another source (unless you can get a couple other passengers to back you up), and you overheard an otherwise private phone conversation - the Dems would have a field day attacking a story based on such.

If I were you, I would enjoy the fact that you confirmed what freepers suspected all along - that Dem operatives conjure up weaselly talking points and coordinate what seems to be spontaneous campaigning. But don't expect media outlets to run with it.

Thanks for your message of hope and cheer! My regards to all of your brownie friends, too!

When we all adopt the "give up for there is no hope" you just emoted, then we cede the country to the RATS.

I for one will go down swinging. They can kill me, and they can eat me, but it doesn't mean I have to taste good!

The eulogy will prove it. I'll bet the left wing spew will just be flying at that rally. Every other word will be "St.Welstone", and the other words will be "free this" and "free that" if they vote Democrat.
