"The indictment alleges that the parents left the four children -- two boys and two girls ages 5, 7, 11 and 13 -- in their Williamsburg home without adult supervision from July 1 to Sept. 19.
"...the children attended Whitley County schools while their parents were away"
This is really weird. How did this go on so long with no one knowing about these kids. The five year old would be in kindergarten (half day), where usually a parent or some other adult would pick up the child at school. And what about school supplies....out of the thirty bucks per week.

Good questions....some States have all day Kindergarten, busses take and pick up kids so parents are not necessarily seen by the school, and in Pennsylvania all school supplies are supplied...... I do not know about Virginia though.....
I've got a 16 year old and an 11 year old....if I go to the grocery store and leave them home I call at least once to check on them! This story makes me ill........
