Thes Tag Lines Are Driving Me Crazy (VAnity)

Posted on 01/09/2003 5:56:00 AM PST by Puddleglum

The new "taglines" after people's usernames are really distracting to me. Is it the intense pressure to think up something too cute? Is it the odd little eye-pulling font that makes it less comfortable to read the article? I can't say for sure. It just doesn't seem to detract from the message board format, at least for me. Does anyone else think so? I love FR but find this new tagline thing a little annoying. Maybe Jim could give us the option to view or not view taglines as part of our user preferences.

Good Morning Fiddlstix. It looks like MOM...er TaRa caught us again. :) Just kiddin TaRa. I haven't seen you around lately. With your sense of humor you would like this thread. Fiddlstix and I had a lot of fun stirring the pot, but I got in trouble HERE.LOL! I almost came home to tell you about it. :)

Bumping the Flag Thread is a good idea since we have so many Newbies around here. Actually, the number of FReepers has increased quite a bit.#;^)

Is this really so important that it deserves a thread?

What is wrong with adding a little personality to your post?

What? You don't like my tag lines?

My tag lines are the best tag lines in all Iraq! I'm afraid I'll have to have you shot.

By the way, have you seen my Spongebob Squarepants tub toy? I've been looking for it ever since Wednesday....

All the best.

Your bestest buddy,

Saddam

Thanks for the note, Uncky Saddam! Funny, I thought you were dead! Oh well, you soon will be if not already. Get ready to take that big dirt nap (sand nap?).

And even if tag lines started out as an invention of Iraqi or Mordor, I have to admit that some folks around here do make pretty good use of them!

We already have an option to use or not use a tag line. I never considered it a big deal. I read some, I don't read some. Haven't used one myself. Those are your options.

Thanks - I actually use them sometimes, too. When this thread started in January it started out as a rant, then a gag, and now it's a grant - the academic word for a combination of the two.
