What Jewish nation? Israel was established in 1948. In the 1930s Jews were citizens of many countries in Europe not citizens of a Jewish nation.

Actually, most European nations in the 1930s considered Jews a separate nationality, not citizens of their countries. Even where they were citizens, their documents were stamped "Jew" and they were considered foreigners. My mother's French password bears the stamp "JUIF" in bright red letters.

Actually, that is the whole point of Zionism. There is, was, and always will be a Jewish nation. When we lost our homeland we didn't give up our national identity, even though almost 1,878 years went by. So, yes, "Jewish nation" is appropriate.
