Let 'em try. They will be rejected by their own caucus, which will make them look even weaker.

There are fewer and fewer Liberal Democrat politicians — these are out and out Socialists. This kind of behavior may or may not not bother the rank and file Liberals, but it will cost them a lot of independent/undecided votes.

And this bill would get as many co-sponsors as the one to withdraw the Iraq resolution--right around 30. I would love to see this brought up at the Judiciary Committee, though, if only to see it go down in flames. It'd be most entertaining.

About time. How many more stakes need to be driven through the Constitution before the congressional $hitheads wake up.

Has it slipped your mind that if it weren't for the French, we would still be subjects of King George?.

Update & Scooter Libby ping

That Conyers meeting with the Illinois law prof Boyle relates to this event just a few days later which was supported by a number of UN officials- or former UN officials as well as the usual assortment of oddballs :

MARCH 21, 2003 : (PUBLICATION OF SILLY-ARSE PETITION AGAINST PNAC-- See ICTI, BERTRAND RUSSELL PEACE FOUNDATION, BRUSSELS TRIBUNAL {see RAMSEY CLARK, DENIS HALLIDAY, HANS VON SPONECK}, 'WAR ON CHENEY, RUMSFELD & WOLFOWITZ') Let me [Belgian Lieven De Cauter] briefly evoke the history of our initiative. Just before the start of the war in Iraq a petition was launched. It was signed by some 500 artists, writers, intellectuals and academics. It called for moral and, if possible, legal action against the 'Project for the New American Century' and the authorities responsible for the war against Iraq. It was published on March 21st [2003] in two Belgian newspapers, De Standaard and De Morgen. It soon appeared that legal action was unlikely to succeed as the United States have consistently acted against any legal authority that would be liable to threaten them and still continue to do so. Hence the idea to set up a 'Moral Court' or 'People's Court' to condemn the new American policy as well as the think tanks behind it (the latter always remain beyond the grasp of legal action). A broad platform composed of several Belgian cultural organizations was created to carry out the petition's first proposal: to set up a Brussels Tribunal, after the historical example of the Russell Tribunal. -----"THE PEOPLE VERSUS TOTAL WAR INCORPORATED" LOOKING BACK TO THE BRUSSELLS TRIBUNAL (Yokohama-testimony, 5th ICTI hearing June 6th 2004)http://www.icti-e.com/Lieven%20De%20Cauter.html
The Conyers jihad- which we have since watched develop into the 2007 Conyers/Clinton/lib rant against Scooter Libby's sentence commutation, is not just a Democrat effort but rather an international one which at its core seeks to suppress the United States' independence. Dare I utter the C word in describing those who are massed against not just the administration, but against America as we know it?

This is what they mean by PNAC and for a little ol' think tank their is no shortage of whackos who hate it and who consistently misinterpret the meaning of just about everything that's ever been said there in a manner not unlike blood libel among palestinian radicals:

1997 : (PNAC IS FOUNDED ; COMMUNISTS ABROAD 'HAVE A COW') In the spring of 1997 the neo-conservatives Robert Kagan and William Kristol of The Weekly Standard founded 'The Project for the New American Century' (PNAC). The most distinguished signatories of the mission statement are Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Jeb Bush (George W. Bush's brother), Francis Fukuyama, and 'last but not least' Paul Wolfowitz, a former Professor of International Politics and former Dean of the Department of International Politics at Johns Hopkins University. Its current director is Gary Schmitt-----"THE PEOPLE VERSUS TOTAL WAR INCORPORATED" LOOKING BACK TO THE BRUSSELLS TRIBUNAL (Yokohama-testimony, 5th ICTI hearing June 6th 2004)http://www.icti-e.com/Lieven%20De%20Cauter.html
The BRussel tribunal group is associated with a group called ICTI which I haven't yet looked into:

JUNE 2003 end : (BERTRAND RUSSELL PEACE FOUNDATION CONFERENCE -- See BRUSSELS TRIBUNAL, ICTI, 'WAR ON PNAC, CHENEY, RUMSFELD & WOLFOWITZ') It soon appeared that legal action was unlikely to succeed as the United States have consistently acted against any legal authority that would be liable to threaten them and still continue to do so. At a networking conference set up by the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation at the end of June 2003 in Brussels it was decided that a series of hearings would be held in different places all over the world, culminating in a final session in Istanbul. The Brussels Tribunal was the official opening session of the has become the World Tribunal on Iraq and of wich ICTI an integral part.------"THE PEOPLE VERSUS TOTAL WAR INCORPORATED" LOOKING BACK TO THE BRUSSELLS TRIBUNAL (Yokohama-testimony, 5th ICTI hearing June 6th 2004)http://www.icti-e.com/Lieven%20De%20Cauter.html

Unfortunately, as you can see these leftists - most of them foreigners- and some of them outright FANS and of Saddam Hussein if not on his payroll at one time- have succesfully managed to demonize some of these people over the years with the aid of a willing press.

Their group draws its inspiration from the original Bertrand Russell "hearings" of 1967 and the Bertrand Russel Foundation of the Vietnam era which disseminated VVAW propaganda alleging US war crimes in Indochina and which coordinated its actions with the Soviet-supported World Peace Council:

NOVEMBER 1969 : (CITIZENS COMMISSIONS OF INQUIRY (CCI) ARE FORMED IN RESPONSE TO THE CALL OF THE BERTRAND RUSSELL FOUNDATION IN NY --- SEE WPC {SEE IPS}) In response to a public call from the Bertrand Russell foundation in New York, Jeremy Rifkin and Tod Ensign launch a new organization called Citizens Commissions of Inquiry (CCI) to publicize American war crimes in Indochina. ------ From WinterSoldier Timeline , http://ice.he.net/~freepnet/kerry/index.php?topic=Timeline
Some of the people connected to the modern "BRussel Tribunal" group have been calling for th elifting of sanctions on Iraq long before the 2003 war :
MAY 3, 2000 Wednesday : (CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING : THREE UN OFFICIALS - HANS VON SPONECK {see BRUSSELS TRIBUNAL} , DENIS HALLIDAY {see BRUSSELS TRIBUNAL} & SCOTT RITTER CALL FOR THE LIFTING OF SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAQ - US REPRESENTATIVES DENNIS KUCINICH, JOHN CONYERS & CYNTHIA MCKINNEY ALSO CALL FOR THE LIFTING OF SANCTIONS) Washington, DC - Three former senior UN officials denounced and called for the lifting of economic sanctions against Iraq at a congressional briefing on Wednesday, May 3. Former UN Humanitarian Coordinators in Iraq, Hans von Sponeck and Denis Halliday, and former weapons inspector Scott Ritter, called on the US government to abandon its policy economic sanctions against Iraq. Despite their diverse backgrounds, all three agreed that economic sanctions are the principle cause of the humanitarian disaster in Iraq, and dismissed claims that American policy is not to blame. US Representatives Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), John Conyers (D-MI) and Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) also called for the lifting of sanctions.
Former UN weapons inspector in Iraq Scott Ritter debunked what he called “the myth” of a threat from Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, which typically cited as a reason for maintaining sanctions. Calling himself "an unlikely ally in this matter," Ritter said that "a lot of the blame for this perception can be laid at my doorstep." But, Ritter said, “the reality is that when you judge Iraq’s current weapons of mass destruction capabilities today, they have none.” ------- Former Senior UN Officials Denounce Iraq Sanctions at Congressional Briefing Press Release American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee May 4, 2000

Conyers does this about every year. It’s like a hobby. Guess he doesn’t fish.
