US troops in heart of Baghdad, US military says
AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar, April 5 (Reuters) - U.S. forces have penetrated into the heart of Baghdad for the first time in the 17-day war, a U.S. military spokesman said on Saturday.
"We now do have troops in the city of Baghdad, we've moved right up the middle. We've seen some sporadic fighting throughout the night and we're continuing to move right up into the heart of the city," Captain Frank Thorp told MSNBC television.
"The members of the first Marine Expeditionary Force and the V Corps continue to take the fight to the enemy. We're taking opportunities to move forward," he said. There was no immediate comment from the Iraqi authorities.

Uh huh. Its a war produced on a Hollywood stage. None of what you see is real.

My heart's desire is to watch Abrams tanks roll into view of those rooftop cameras.

"There was no immediate comment from the Iraqi authorities." We are "Wagging the Dog," dontcha no. That tape is all false. We are not at the airport or city central. It's a lie, a lie. I tell you.
I wonder if Baghdad Bob will have his daily press conference.

Got a great idea!!
Have the troops hand out flyers in arabic that say:
"Hello, We are American Troops"
"We are looking for Saddam dead or alive"
"Have you seen him lately?"
{Saddam's Picture"
"Have a Nice Day!"
{Smilely face with head injury}

They will say we are bogged down in the quagmire of another Stalingrad and that our troop morale is failing. Any officer casualties will be the result of fraggings by their own men. Oh, and the troops are now taking refuge in drugs to alleviate their misery. And that is just tomorrow.

U.S. Forces Move to Center of Baghdad
.c The Associated Press
CAMP AS SALIYAH, Qatar (AP) - Coalition troops were near the center of Baghdad on Saturday, a U.S. Central Command spokesman said.
``As of this morning, coalition forces are actually in the city of Baghdad,'' said Navy Capt. Frank Thorp. ``As we moved into the city, we saw sporadic fighting, we've actually moved through the republican guard divisions to pretty much the center of the city.''
``We have substantial forces now moving into the city,'' he said.
Asked if the U.S. Army's V Corps and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force were on a probing mission, Thorp said, ``they're not coming out.''
``That's not the intent to come back out,'' he said. ``They're in Baghdad.''
