You just don't get it? That's called "direct action" in doublespeak. Only lefties can engage in direct action. Direct action is always good.

Or you can use other spin phrases: "This is an educational site. We feel the public has the right to know what's going on."

NOOOOOO!!!!NOO! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
NOT Kent McCord!!!!!!
( ---wasn't he in some cop series for a year or two about 25 years ago????) Has he worked since? I guess he can be anti-war with impunity, because it's certainly not gonna effect his employment picture.

The presence of Raitt and Kristoferson (sp?) on such a list of rogues saddens me. It shows that talent doesn't always coexist with a clean heart.

Where were these people when gay groups were pushing a boycott of advertisers and trying to force Dr. Laura off the air?

Just more evidence of the Left's legendary hypocrisy. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. They are like a little kid in a sandbox who steals your toy and thinks it's perfectly proper to do so, but when you take it back, he screams bloody murder. Too bad, libs. If you think boycotting anti-American idiots isn't fair, why don't you call for a waaaaaaaambulance?

Whoaaa, I MUST apologize about Kent McCord. I just did a google search on him and it turns out he is one of our truly great actors, with DOZENS of TV credits, going back to the Ozzie and Harriet show of the early 60s, to a LOVE BOAT episode in '77 and MURDER SHE WROTE (which I always refer to as " "Columbo" for retards") in '94.

My heart is broken. Al Bundy!!! He liked John Wayne and the war movies. Say it ain't so!!! AAAllllllllll! (Peg whine done more loudly!) Married with Children has been, and shall always be, my Most Favorite TV Show. This cuts to the bone.

"Psycho Dad" would have been so disappointed.

Let's take this movement back to it's very beginnings. I remember Anita Bryant getting slammed pretty good way back when, which probably chilled the free speech of many other showbiz folks of a similar mind. You just don't hear that kind of talk out of Hollywood anymore, but I'd be willing to bet there are folks in those parts who would like to speak their mind in that regard.

It goes both ways and shifts from time to time. I think we might be witnessing that now.

But, hey. There are political attitudes that it's unhealthy to express in my business too (a business that sells big iron machines that assist in resource extraction, and probably had three people in the whole country who voted for Gore). I don't share those particular beliefs myself, but I sorta feel for the ones that do.

Unlike the performers of a century ago (or even less,) these personalities of the screen and arena stage are not used to audience response.

So true, so true. They live very insulated lives, surrounded by @ss kissers and yes men, and they have no idea how the outside world works. They exist in a vaccuum, trapped inside a community where most everyone else thinks exactly as they do, and when they step outside and spout their garbage and are met with disagreement and disdain, they throw a tantrum like the spoiled children that they are. They can't imagine or accept that other people think for themselves and don't think the way they do.

Ken Paulson is executive director of the First Amendment Center with offices in Arlington, Va. and Nashville, Tenn.

"Do we truly embrace the principles of the founding fathers, or are we more inclined to punish those who dare to utter views with which we disagree?"

Jeez, Ken, last time I checked, I wasn't Congress, and couldn't make a law abridging Janeane's Freedom of Speech. I could refuse to watch her movies, but again, I'm not a Government.

But you knew that, didn't you, Ken? I mean, a guy that's the director of the First Amendment Center should certainly know what the First Amendment says, shouldn't he?

Unless, of course, he's a lying Left-wing hypocrite on the take from his fellow Lefty suckers. ;-)

What did Joe McCarthy have to do with either HUAC or the Blacklist? HUAC is a House committee, and McCarthy was never in the House. And his Senate Committee on Government Operations never investigated Hollywood.

I do wonder, though, whether these calls for economic retaliation undercut the very freedoms we hold most dear.

For the author of this article, it sounds like the freedom to spend our own hard-earned money in the way we choose is not one of "the very freedoms we hold most dear."

So, according to all of these whiners, we aren't allowed to refuse patronage of people with whom we disagree, for whatever reason. .... Do I have that correctly?

Yes, that is correct. If you fail to go see their movies, you are violating their Constitutional Right to your money, unless you invoke the Ignorant Redneck Clause. The IRC will protect you if you can prove you were always an insensitive clod and never went to see their movies even when you didn't know what twits they were because you are a dumb hick and were too busy burping and watching football to learn to appreciate the finer things in life.

To qualify for the IRC and avoid the McCarthy Tax (which compensates them for the lost wages they would suffer if you fail to watch them now) you must submit proof of your insensitive bourgeois ethic. Proof would consist of at least 3 of the following:

-50 beer cans (domestic) and a Skoal canister
-$100 worth of WalMart receipts
-Any evidence of NASCAR attendence
-concert stubs for Great White, White Snake, White Zombie, or Metallica
-35 Country Western CD cases (not including Dixie Chicks)
-picture of you with a mullet
-worn out pair of cowboy boots
-copy of pick-up truck registration
-copy of firearms registration card
-copy of fishing licence
-essay defending your right to display Confederate Flag
-copy of your DD214
-proof of ownership of riding lawn mower
-a note from your pastor.

Do you have a web-site for the list of celebrities you posted? I have checked the list on the "Boycott Hollywood" web-site and the "Hollywood Halfwits" site and don't see some of the names that were on the list you provided. Someone else had mentioned, for example, their disappointment that three members of the cast for Lord of the Rings were on the list. I had previously heard, to my great disappointment, that Viggo Mortensen had made anti-war comments, but the two web-sites I mentioned above didn't list Ian McKellan or Elijah Wood. If you have another web-site, I'd like to check it out. Thanks!

If Mr. Paulson thinks we're depriving somebody of his 1st Amendment right to free speech and engaging in "unfair" consumer practices, why doesn't he just start a lawsuit? Oh, wait, that's right -- we have as much constitutional right to criticize celebrities and invite others to not buy their "product" as those celebrities have to speak their minds. I guess Mr. Paulson will just have to go on whining instead.
